When Kroger began having gas stations, I couldn't figure out why. Now I know why. We're hooked. I do stop at Kroger gas from time to time when I don't go to the store, and I bet there are times I end up buying something at Kroger because I stop for gas. I stopped at the fairly new Kroger gas on Poplar Level a couple of weeks ago and there was a traffic jam to get in for gas!

Isn't there at least a semi-significant discount for the Kroger card? Our regular Kroger's - Dirty K and St. Matthews - don't have gas stations, but on the occasion when we use them it seems like the card saving takes them far enough below the competition to be worth a small extra effort.

Lord knows Madi's right about the dearth of gas stations in that strip of Bardstown Rd since the one beside Seviche took their pumps out a few years ago and the Chevron at the corner of Taylorsville closed down, but we do have a couple pumps right where Speed meets Bardstown (a block from our apartment) at AMI Food Mart, across from the tattoo parlor and skate shop. We go to that Kroger three or four times a week, though, and we'd love the discount. They could have fit it in the back parking lot!

From what I understand, the idea of CVS moving was to tear it down and put in a gas station.

D'oh. That's what i meant when i said K's Food Mart. It definitly counts, but the parking lot is sorta sketchy and the pumps are probably older than I am. If I recall, you cant "pay at the pump" there and for some reason i have it set in my mind that this is a HUGE inconvenience. Could be wrong though.

I'm very lucky that I live and work and play all within a small radius plus I have an economical car, therefore dont use very much gas.
Actually, now that i think about it... i dont think I've had to "fill up" in almost 3 weeks. Pretty Good!

I also live in the area ( behind Atherton High School ) and I also go to the Shell across from Assumption and the SuperAmerica across from Bowman.
But when this news first hit the area, there was swarming of petitions to stop it, hell I went to a movie at Baxter Ave and was asked to sign a petition, Lakeside and also petitioners standing out in front of Graeter's approached me.
The bottleneck traffic is the main concern from what I gather..

Now you can use your JC/Kroger gas discount at the Circle K on Btown Road. I happen to live right there on Lancashire and the Highland Kroger is also my home Kroger. But I have to say, I have no interest in a gas station right there where the video store used to be. Kroger had considered the opposite corner where Brenzel's gas station was but it is now a construction site for River City Bank. My opinion is that location would have been more practical. We certainly don't need another bank in the neighborhood.

As a long term resident, I've seen lots of changes along this area. Years ago, Kroger remodeled and expanded this store. Grant it, it's much nicer now and the inventory is greatly improved, but they have never been able to get adequate parking accommodations. I always park in the back cutting thru the drive by Bonnycastle Appliance. The traffic around the Kroger is horrendous. And Lord help you on Senior Day!

When I filled up there last week using my debit card, the pump popped up with the question if I wanted to use my Kroger/JC card or alternative ID (phone # with area code). I slapped in the # and tada another $.10 off per gallon. Don't really know what the arrangement is between Circle K and the Big K.
