Susi and I went yesterday after closing and they let us in to shop! Awesome selection of everything, meats, paper goods, equipment, cheeses, fresh herbs, produce. Blows away GFS and I'm the number one walk in customer at GFS with a plaque to prove it! I would think all the food companies will be under fire to reduce prices and improve service. They said to bring all food cost inventory prices over and they would do a price comparison for free. I was very impressed. Though the whole goats and lambs were a little creepy.

Hi everyone. I'm the branch manager of Restaurant Depot and would to thank everyone for the kind comments. I'm glad everyone likes the pricing from smallwares to our fresh meats- and yes, we have a wide variety of foods including goat and lamb to be able to cater to all restaurants, bars, etc., in the Louisville area. If any of you have any questions, please feel free to email me directly at manager.431@jetrord.com.

GFS and other similar places probably have a larger markup on their inventory because they are open to the general public. HOWEVER, I'm very glad this place has settled in the area and been made available as a tool for food persons in Louisville.

Makes me want to borrow someone's membership and buy a Draft Beer Cooler.

I know it's free. My point: I'm not a business or non-profit organization. Therefore, would a person "not in the biz" or some such be able to to walk off from the street and apply?

So, I have to admit that I have set aside my coat and toque, and a a member of the management team at the aforementioned Restaurant Depot. It's good to see a buzz on here about it. Any forumites coming, in, be sure to seek me out - I'll be in the cooler arounf the vegetables with a blue coat and stocking hat on. Usually there from opening until mid afternoon.

It's quite the operation. Pricing is great, selection is great. We can special order, we can pick your order for you (call, e-mail or fax), and everything is very nice quality.

When I worked in Fort Lauderdale in the mid-90's I was a near-daily shopper at the Pompano Beach location. An odd full-circle to be working for them now!

I had been wondering what you were doing now! I had sort of read between the lines of previous posts and didn't think you were still in your most recent kitchen.
