The goal of the practical living program at Coleridge Taylor is for each child to be empowered with the opportunity and knowledge to live and choose a healthy lifestyle. We balance health, well-being and physical education to reach our goal.
This year, our school will implement a very exciting new program called Food Is Elementary© (FIE). It is designed to help children understand what it means to be healthy and how to make responsible food choices. Students will create healthy snacks, learn to read food labels and understand where they food comes from. For more information on Food is Elementary visit http://www.foodstudies.org.
Students will have a regularly scheduled physical education time once a week. During this time students will participate in structured activities to build their non-locomotor and gross motor skills. Students will also have daily wellness time on the playground. If the weather isn’t permitting for outdoor play, students will participate in a yoga or aerobics DVD.
At Coleridge Taylor we believe in educating the whole child. We want our students to have the tools they need to lead long, healthy lives.
