Now there's something to tell the grand kids about.

If the only thing that happens is a tattoo with my nieces and nephews, then I'll be relieved.

If memory serves, my first "official" work day at the Public House was June 30, 1992. The FOSSILS club was just shy of two years old, and my liver was three sizes smaller. From that day forward, I began to compile the experiences now viewed as "conflict of interest," but that's another story.

About this time, I was up in Madison [WI] finding an apartment to rent when I moved there in August for grad school. For some strange reason my taste for good beer grew while I was there. By the time I moved back to Louisville, we had a craft beer movement here. Thanks in large parts to you.

Robin, did you ever go to Planet Hollywood? I was the Corporate Hostess Trainer-CLASSIC!! Traveled and Opened the London and Cancun spots! Had to entertain the masses while they were quoted sometimes 2 hour waits outside and 2 hours inside-AMAZING that people did wait but there we did have stars in the building on any given day! Very fun times...went on to manage Wilson's on the Upper West Side-now they had very good food!

I sure remember Planet Hollywood! :D

I don't think we ever went, though. I lived in Santa Monica for a while (this was back when it was more a hippie community than a well-off liberal ghetto), and then moved to Glendale after I started working for the local paper, the Glendale Ledger-Independent. This was like back in the '70s, though, when I was barely old enough to drink. ;)

I don't know if it was exactly when you first opened, but sometime around then I was playing a lot of jazz in the back room, as well as helping produce Louisville Jazz Society concerts there. Loved The Silo.

I remember the ljs concerts in the "hops" room. I didn't see many shows there as I lived deep in Floyds Knobs back then.

We did some great shows there, including my favorite: a well-known Latin artist whose group was, well, not completely sober on the way to the show (I know, that belongs in that other thread) and they drove about half way to Bowling Green from New Albany on I65 South before they figured out what had gone wrong. I think we started about an hour and half late that night.

I played probably fifty gigs with the Jerry Tolson Big Band in that room, including through a tornado outbreak one night. Lots of good memories - and thanks for the reminder that it was called the "Hops Room."

I got my first tattoo.

Sweet as long as it wasn't on your lower back.

there was a man at my son's swimming lesson with a tramp stamp. They were crossed racing flags, but still...couldn't imagine any man getting those *there*.

18 years ago I was fifteen and heard that Pasta Pizazz on Bardstown Road hired 15yr old kids to run the register. Started in on them during summer (probably July) but they wouldn't hire me until I turned 16 a few months later. I was very persistent. Sweet sweet memories - I remember the old carbon copied "knuckle busting" credit card imprinters and PLU buttons on the POS. And the drive thru that nearly caused me brain damage (La Bamba's drive thru - in case you never noticed, a left-handed munchkin designed it). The late and much beloved Pete Aarvig (Baxter Station) was my boss there and treated me like his little sis (he may have also treated me to a hard bev once or twice while we closed up shop??? ~miss that man).

You must have been just legal when you started at BBC or were you? We still use the knuckle buster for preauthorization of keg deposits. Seems our POS doesn't have that function (?).

I was 20 + when I 1st served at the BBC, barely.

Your POS supports more than you may realize. Under maintenance (which you are) you can call to find out just what, free of charge.

18 years ago I was married to a different woman, living in a different house and working at a different job. And I had hair. Other than that, not much has changed.
