Halibut's my favorite. Had a client who used to catch it herself, clean it, freeze it and carry it to me on the plane with her when she came to Louisville. Sadly, her case is over now! She's invited me to come up to Alaska to catch my own.

A wedding reception ? On the Fourth of July ? With apologies to the groom, that's about as smart as getting married on the first day of Deer season. His holiday weekends are screwed for life.

Huh?

Boyfriend and I had Dragon Kings Daughter-Delicious as usual! Ordered the BBQ Beef Soft Taco, Shrimp Cocktail Roll, Indulgent Roll and the Poppers! Estrella was the Beer choice-all very yummy! Tonight will be the traditional cook-out with ribs, burgers and steak-I am making a Tomato Zucchini Basil baked dish. Hope everyone had a nice July Fourth Weekend and will have a Nice Holiday Monday!

Kyle,

You must be single or recently married because I'm sure most of the old married guys know exactly what I'm talking about.

The groom works in the restaurant business and does not have have the luxury of a 9-5 job; Holidays are days off. This past weekend was the first weekend scheduling was able to fit into everyone's book. So, unless your wife is overbearing , I still am lost on the meaning of your post.

OK, as something of a public service, let me put it this way. In life there are "her" days (Valentines Day, Sweetest Day, Birthday, etc) and there are "his" days (which usually involve the opening of some kind of season). Rule #1 is that you never-ever forget "her" days. Rule #1a is that she pretty much decides how to spend "her" days. Rule #2 is that "his" days are only honored to the extent that they don't interfere with or overlap "her" days. Most women I've known will market an anniversary as an "our" day, when in reality it is a "her" day (just ask any guy who's been married over 5 years). I tend to think of the 4th of July (at least marginally) as a "his" day...Maybe you hang out with friends and family, man up on the grill, set off a few fireworks, maybe swill a few beers. So basically what the groom has done is to turn what was potentially a "his" day into a "her" day thus removing any and all possibility of it ever again becoming a "his" day. :P

I recognize that despite this explanation, the meaning of my post will most likely remain "lost" but trust me, there are a bunch of guys who will read this and say "Hell yeah, what Stevie said". 8) :P
