You want to show us how you could do out there on the field running for 90 minutes with only a five-minute halftime break and no time-outs? ;)

Robin,

I couldn't get out there and run around for 90 SECONDS with a 30 minute beer break halfway through... :P But I'll "see" your WC and "raise" you the Indy 500 and the Coke 600 on Memorial Day. Now THERE are some real athletes. 8)

Anyway, sorry, didn't mean to hijack your post...Ya'll go back to talking Rugby or whatever

Steve likes that sport with the on-going concussion issue. You guys draw your own conclusions.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

Ironically this afternoon a couple of beer reps were telling me that they are expecting a good turnout for the World Cup games there.

A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure.

Monkey Wrench is a fun place for the World Cup. We watched several games there 4 years ago. Lots of people come to watch WC games there, and it's a nice rowdy footballin' atmosphere. The people that go there for games tend to know the sport and teams pretty well.

I second Monkey Wrench. A buddy told me the other day that the old Germantown Cafe has re-opened as a "soccer bar". I haven't checked it out yet but that would only mean they are down with el Copa Mundial. Anyone heard of this too?

Yeah, the good news about World Cup 2010 is that both Univision and ESPN/ABC say they'll broadcast all the matches live. But that also means that, since they're playing in South Africa, they'll all be in the daytime over here - mostly 10 a.m. or 2:30 p.m.

Just a reminder that the World Cup starts Friday! Also, if anyone wants to join me I'll be at the NABC Bank Street Brewhouse on Saturday to watch the US/England match. And to drink some good beer

"For US v. England on June 12 we'll have an English Ordinary Bitter brewed with extraordinary American hops. Jared calls the Ordinary the "lightest and most 'sessionable' of Bitters."

Game's at 2:30 p.m. Eastern, according to this apparently reliable schedule page:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-cup/ ... 901&ver=us

And to drink some good beer

Of course!

Brownings will be offering 1/2 price apps during all world cup games. During the games w/ Brazil we will be doing special Brazilian drinks. One of our friends is from Brazil and wanted the kids to be able to come enjoy the games as well -- so please, come to Brownings to enjoy the World Cup. :D

Big Blue Country (the new bar in the old "Brewery" location) is showing every match on a giant screen. They said they're going to be open for the early morning matches, as well.

Tony, is that a one-time deal, or will you do it for other games? All USA games that don't start too early? Etc.
