I asked this question because it happened to a couple of friends of mine on Mother's day and the circumstances of their being asked to leave were inexcusable. HOWEVER, since this did not happen to me personally, I don't feel the need to report hearsay in terms of the name of said restaurant.

If you don't want people to hang out in your restaurant for 3 hours, get the same chairs that Hooter's uses. I met w/ some friends of mine there once to watch an event & after 45 minutes I had to leave because my butt was sore & my ribs were aching (the food was awful too). I suppose that what I'm trying to say is, if you create an environment that encourages people to stay a long time, don't be surprised when they do. I think that the vast majority of people will take a hint if you have a good waiting staff. There are always people that can't take a hint or simply don't care but I think they're few & far between.
