Dave,

We live about 1 mile from Corbett's so my husband can pick-up Chris' on his way to the Throwdown. Sorry, guess now you won't be able to cheat...

Suzi,
How about we take you up on your offer to serve Corbett's entry? This time I'd love to be able to relax and enjoy the Throwdown. Thanks again for offering!

Becky
You shouldn't feel that way. I sense that you feel left out? Don't , come to the throwdown, and you will be greeted with open arms.

The feeling I get is that people are really excited for this event, and are scrambling to get things into place. It seems that the help is being accepted as it comes in due to time crunch, and other obligations.

Five reasons not to miss the throwdown:

1. It is for a good cause
2. the food will be great
3. Chef's are sweethearts
4. they love what they do
5. Hotbytes crowd are sweethearts (they love what they do)
6. the Standard Country club is a nice place to meet friends, have a drink, and pick "people's choice" for chicken and dumplin's

Okay six

May the best dish win!

I agree with Heather, Becky. Can't you join us? These events are open to all forumites - everyone is welcome, and we don't send out personal invitations, just a general "Let's go!" It would be great if you (and spouse/partner/friend) could join us for all the reasons Heather listed.

whoa, whoa, whoa, that was written with a smile. I don't feel left out, and i know that all forumites are invited. That playground statement was my personality coming out..... I posted on the official sign-up thread that I can't go. I was looking forward to it but didn't realize that my daughter's ceremony for the National Honor Society is on the same night. Like i said on the other thread I hope there is another offline event that I can afford to go to soon, I'm kicking myself because $10 is an awesome price.

and Heather..... all of your statements are true.... I know. Everyone seems to be working together so well, and offering help to one another, it is just a good thing to see. I'm a sensitive big girl and all the niceness of the "i'll volunteer..." "i'll pick up..." "i'll scoop..." touched me..... yeah I know, silly....lol

ROLL CALL for competitors: I am starting to set the room, and need to know what to do!

I have:
David Clancy
Chris Howerton (David - same table, or side by side?)
Dan Thomas
Carolyne Davis
Mac McBride
Dan Thompson
and someone from here - still deciding who.

So, that's 7 contestants. I have 10 tables set up, and can fit maybe 12. So, Phil? Leah? Marsha? Heather? Anyone else?

(going to cross-post to the main board also)

I think I'm judging. Although, now I wish I was cooking, since we need more cooks!

C'mon, amateurs! Step up - it's only a giant pot of C&D to go up against the restaurant guys. And very few to none of them are cooking C&D on a regular basis! If you have equipment or serving concerns, just ask 8)

Hi Bret,

I volunteered to help, and will be available all day. If you all could use my assistance setting up that afternoon, just let me know.

Also, I don't have any other 'assignments' as of now - let me know what I can do. Looking forward to it!

As of right now, I am bringing my "PAID" stamp - unless Jessica brings her washable ink ones and I have offered to help dish up for Chris Howerton's entry. I can also plate it for judging, Chris you can give me directions or let me "wing it". Anything else we need done? I am working that day, I can get there by 5:00.

Kim, we're actually in very good shape - room is set, bar is set, TV is set. More than setup, it's be nice if we can convince a few people to hang out after to help clear linens, remove trash, etc. Not much time, maybe 20-30 minutes and we can have it put back together. No dishes, just a little general break-down.

I can stay and help clean up, and pick up plates, glasses, etc., throughout the night as well if that would help.

I have a faculty meeting until 5 so Doug and I will probably not get there until right at 6. I'll bring my stamp in case.

Sorry , I have to cancel for the chicken and dumpling throwdown. I hadn't heard from anyone, so I assumed it was a no go? Just this morning I heard that its still on but, due to not having prep complete and working til 6 I will be unable to attend. I would love to participate in the next throwdown however. I really hate that I'm going to miss this throwdown. Sucks!
