I lost my job too.

Sherry, sorry to hear the bad news. My brother moved a few years ago to keep his job and they fired him a about 3 weeks ago. My best friend hasn't lost his job but his hours have been cut to 24 hours a week. It's bad and will get worse before it starts to get better. I rarely eat out anymore. Maybe once a month.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

I work in a cosmetic surgery field and our company has really taken a hit. We're all reduced to 32 hrs. right now. We're making it..but we have to make our eating out experiences "count".

Noticed that Brandon's BBQ on Westport Road has closed. Not sure about the Simpsonville location.

While I know they weren't technically a restaurant, they did have food.. Jenicca's last day is Nov 29. Shame for such a great little wine bar. I also don't think Seviche on Goose Creek was mentioned and there's been lots of talk about Artemesia closing as well (not trying to spread a rumor, but also having trouble finding support for this other than talking to other foodies - any one else know for sure?) Seems like a Market St crash...

I work for a company that helps people thru the first 30 days of change. Robin...would it be okay to give the name of our site? It's a free subscription. Working for this company has taught me that when doors close opportunities present themselves that one might be blind to otherwise. I'm not trying to sugar coat anyone's losses here. It's heartbreaking, very scary and happening all over the country.
Best regards to all,

Sure, Sarita. I appreciate your asking, but if it could be relevant to a few folks, it's well worth while. Go ahead and post.

Thanks a bunch Robin. Below is the home page:
http://www.first30days.com/

To the left is our change channels grouped with changes that if a user signs up for a specific change we will send a change tip every day for 30 days. (we have 60 live changes thus far)

If you want to look at the changes individually quickly..(job loss, starting a business, frugal living, having more money, getting out of debt, being happier, divorce, going green, losing weight, living healthier, online dating, switching to a mac, understanding HDTV..I could go on and on...) they are at the very bottom of the home page.

My very best to all with your journeys.

Mastersons Downtown location will cease to serve the daily buffet and weekend brunch , with December 23rd. being the last serving day. Table top cards indicate that they will be concentrating on Catering & Function business.

Where in in Downtown Louisville will a crew of eight to ten people be able to get in and out in under 40 Min, while being satisfied with the selection, not to mention "Nine Bucks ea. including drink"? for very good quality food. The wait staff are great and hopefully will be incorporated into the ongoing daily business.

Paul & Andrew, you still have time to change your mind.

Masterson's downtown?
Are you talking about Masterson's on Third Street near U of L? Or is there another downtown location?

Hi David,

Yes it’s true we are closing the weekday buffet and Sunday brunch. We have struggled with that decision for a couple of years now. It was always very marginal and only makes up about 2% of our business. One of the primary reasons we have left it open as long as we did was because of some very long time employees (Lisa retired after 35 years and Norman whom had been with us off and on since 1938 recently passed). There are a few others in the staff that have been with us 15 +. All staff is being worked into other ongoing operations.

We have been doing some informal surveys over the last year asking if a $2.50 to $3.00 prices increase would discourage guests from visiting as often and did not get very good response. Unfortunately that kind of increase, while maintaining the same volume, is the only thing that would make it worth continuing. So rather than see it whither on the vine we decided to remodel that space and wrap it into the larger parts of our operation. There is a reason you can't get in an out of a decent place for $9.00 anymore.

However, I would not give up hope, I suspect we are going to miss having traditional walk in business around this location and may reopen it down the road.

It's so sad to hear about all of these closings. My family opened up Sake Blue not too long ago, so I totally understand the difficulties in this economy. All the locally-owned restaurants in Louisville make this city so unique so it's a hard pill to swallow...
