Several of the people in my stay-at-home mothers' group e-mailed me this link. When I went, 350 had already been sold. It's a great deal...I just hope we aren't going to hurt Seviche's bottom line too much.

I just bought one...they were talking about it here too...I think Seviche will be ok since you're only allowed to use one per table; per visit. And it's only good for 6 months.

The offer certainly is wonderful from the guest perspective and I am glad to see that there is concern on how this offer may affect Seviche financially. One would guess that Groupon gets some of the $25 that the 350+ people will spend on their certificates. I would also think, although I haven't checked on the Groupon site, that there must be a limit to how many certificates will be sold.

It was also noted on the other thread that these certificates were good for food and beverages. That may be limited to non-alcoholic beverages as KY ABC regulations prohibit free or below cost sales of beer, wine or liquor.

Who redeems and how the certificates are used will determine the short-term financial ramifications. One certificate by a party of eight new guests, that hopefully will become regulars, is a plus. Current regulars using a certificate for a party of two is probably a minus; financially speaking. Unused certificates (there will be more than one would expect), probably will help off-set some expenses.

Good points...

Restaurant Groupons
Can I use this for alcohol?

Yes, and enjoy! (Unless the Fine Print explicitly says you can't, in which case, well, you can't. Sorry.)

WHICH really does not say much...and even the Fine Print:

The Fine Print

* Expires 08/09/2010
* Limit 1 per table. Must redeem in 1 visit. Not valid with other offers. Reservations required.
* Read the Deal FAQ for the basics.

One of the FAQ is : Can I use this for alcohol? Well, it does not say you're not allowed, BUT...safe to ask them before ordering that 3rd Mojito.

Isn't Madi D on HotBytes a General Manager @ Seviche? Madi would be able to tell us.

Hello all!
We are so excited to be the first featured deal in Louisville. I just got off the phone with our contact at Groupon and he says that this is the most successful launch day of any city so far. I'm monitering the site, we just passed 628 sold. They are only available today so make sure you let your friends and family know about the deal.
There are very few restrictions on the certificates.
-You can only use ONE per table
-You cant combine it with any other offer (restaurant.com certificates, lou originals gift certificates, etc)
-You can only redeem it in one visit, meaning that if you spend less than $60 the balance cannot carry-over.
-Its valid dine-in only.
- As for beverages, it does include alcohol. It can only be used with a food purchase though, so you cant spend the $60 ONLY on alcohol.

Thanks,
Madi

Thanks for the details, Madi! I know more than a few people who are going to be eating @ Seviche for the first time because of this great bargain. You guys really knocked it out of the park.

Madi,

Thanks for the clarification.

One question: Are reservations truly required ( per Kyle's post), and if so, do you need to inform someone that you have this coupon???

Please tell Anthony I sent my congratulations for a well executed promotion!

Yep, I got an email telling me about it. I suggest everyone get an account, it's free and they email you the deal in your area.

I bought one just because I've never been there. Looks like tasty stuff!

Bought the Seviche one, and just got the Cake Flour one. I have been there several times - I like to swing by there on my way home from Creation Gardens. I buy a bunch of produce and then a big delicious cupcake or cookie. My favorite so far was the peppermint brownie.
