Turkey Joe's

by Ron Taglieri » Sun Jan 31, 2010 10:09 am

Went to eat there last night and sign said "Due to Unforeseen Circumstances, Turkey Joe's is closed".

However, sign did not indicate whether this is permanent or temporary. Does anyone know what is going on? With BoomBozz moving to Westport Village, that would be blow to the shopping center at least until new BoomBurger opens up later this spring.

I called Turkey Joe's this afternoon and spoke to a lady on the phone and was informed that they ARE in fact permanently closed. <sniff>. This was one of our "go to" spots for wings and burgers and they will be sorely missed.

I think it's my fault. I bought a Restaurants.com gift certificate for Sage Indian restaurant, and it closed. Then I bought one for India Palace. It closed. Then I bought one for Turkey Joe's....

What about an actual $30 gift certificate? Guess we'll just be out of the money? Called and their phone number is "not currently accepting calls to this number".

I wasn't referring to a restaurant.com certificate. I'm talking about an actual gift certificate (they don't have gift cards). I handed them $30 and they gave me a "certificate" to give to someone as a gift. I would most certainly like to be reimbursed for this.

If were a betting man I'd say you are out 30 bucks. Wonder what the deal was with them closing anyway ? We've never been in there and seen them "slammed" but by the same token they always seemed to have a steady clientele.

I really miss this place. They had the best turkey dinner in town. It was a good concept. Great food and good people. From what I heard, they went under due to the economy and rising food costs.

I wonder what happened ot that large Turkey they had on the roof? It was a cool logo.

I looked at the building and the realitor that showed it to me said that there was two partners. One was the money guy and one was the operator and they hired a chef. The operator partner was in the National Guard or the Army Reserves and he got activated and sent to Afghanistan. That left the money guy to manage the business. Then he said the chef got really ill and couldn't work so he had to bring in a cook to replace the chef and things just went down hill from there. They must have been asked to leave. The landlord kept the equipment and is trying to lease it out with all of the equipment, tables and chairs. They are asking $5500.00 a month plus a monthly fee. Too strong for my blood.

The building that I looked at was on the corner of Westport Road and Hurstborne Ave In that little shopping center. Back in the right corner. I didn't know the restaurant owners or anything about them. I just call the number on the for lease sign and someone from Hoagen showed up and gave me a tour. He told me what the situation was with the previous operators.

Steve what size place are you looking for? I have seen quite a few places, however most of them need a small amount of work done first. There is alot more to the story to the Turkey Joe's closing. They are friends and all I will say is that bad things happen to all of us, we pick up and move on.
