This is Kathy Scannell writing. I oversee the Home Run restaurants with my father, Bob Kiper. He called me on Sunday afternoon (right after I had left the St. Matthews store, ironically) to tell me about Mark's post. I hurried back to the store and checked the Digital Dining software which proved to me that the manager and staff were indeed at the store ready to grill "hamburmers" at 11 a.m. We do have heavy-duty blinds on the entire windowed side of the restaurant to combat the glare. And the blinds were pulled down on Sunday sooo,...I'm thinking that the blinds made it look like the lights were not turned on. The manager assured me that the doors were unlocked. I'm curious -- did you attempt to open the door?
This post makes me think that we should invest in a lighted "OPEN" sign. We recently took down the OPEN banner and moved it to our newest store.
Thanks for your (attempted

) patronage! BTW, we are looking for a fourth location. Any suggestions?
To address Scott's review of our fries: We use timers on our blanched hand-cut fries and another timer on the finished fries AFTER they have "rested". Possibly we got behind on our blanched fries and as a result, the quality of your fries suffered. (Yes, we did get "in the weeds" once or twice during our opening week -- THANK YOU, Middletown folks!) We are so proud of our fries - very labor intensive but so worth it when done right. Crisp on the outside and soft like a baked potato on the inside. Hopefully, you will give us another chance to prove that Home Run knows how to make great fries.
Thanks for listening, foodies! I tend to get a bit passionate about my burger and fries --
