Sweeeet! 21st Amendment is still alive and well? When they opened Sean made a stout that involved oyster shells in the fining. Had this sea salty choco background. It was the most delicious stout I've had to this day, and that was in around '98 or so. Although BBC milk stout would be the next to mind, and that was only a month ago! Not such a fan of many oatmeal stouts though. Why is that?
And who in this forum has enjoyed a bud wheat lately?

Eh-Hem....We are talking about a review coming out of Maxim. I'm surprised they found a writer with enough attention span to spell the name of most of these beers....The only thing I can figure is that they copied the names off of the empties they found in a dumpster shared by a beer bar and a Hooters restaurant.

. Though their beer list is far from accurate, I believe they know the exact way to keep target reader's attention. Whether or not this makes them a good writer is another story...

The article was actually the 25 best new beers in America.

The problem is most of them are not new at all.... maybe new to the writer I guess.

No different than Tailgater's Quarterly doing a story on America's finest wines.

 True. True. I'm just not so sure the lower range of their target audience is old enough to drink.

What publication listed Tumblweed as 'Best Steak'?

This is what I keep remembering in my head.

Lists like these are usually a joke. Please don't take them seriously. Anyone who knows beer surely doesn't.

Cheers.....

It would be much more informative to take a survey of brewmasters at 100 or so US micros, and see what their top 25 are. Now that would be a nice list....Roger, do you have a lot of time on your hands?

No, but I agree with you. My complaint is that there are too many good new beers and not enough time to become familiar with them. Many wouldn't be available hereabouts, anyway.

The best news of all: There's good beer all over the place these days. 1,550 breweries will do that to ya.

Yeah, with the insane distribution laws in the US, different in virtually every state, it is tough to have access to most of the different brews out there. 1550 breweries, some making ten or more different beers makes it a ridiculous task to even ask what is "best."

I think it is best for the consumer to figure out what is available locally, familiarize yourself with those products and go from there. Ignore the lists.

Cheers
