The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Messaging space shrunk to accomodate the advertising on the right side of the page? I don't recall seeing many ads there previously (but happy Robin is attracting advertisers!).

I love the new clean, crisp look! And yes that space to the right is additional advertising space available. If anyone is interested please feel free to contact me for rates.

You know how much YOU"RE on this site; remember we have over 1500 REGISTERED forum members and who knows how many unregistered visitors that visit this site 24/7. Many make this site a regular part of their everyday life. That means fantastic exposure to a segment of the population that is seriously interested in food. And it's affordable. If you are a restaurant or in the hospitality biz, it just makes sense to advertise with Louisville HotBytes.

Mary has been working on it for a couple of weeks and finally put it "into production" over the weekend. The idea, for what it's worth, is not only to provide additional primary ad space for forum-only advertising, but also to make the look and style of the forum more consistent with the LouisvilleHotBytes home page.

Two little nuances - first, bout 10 times as many people view the forum as participate, so yes, readership is much larger than the core membership suggests. Second, advertisers should bear in mind, that while the new tall ad space on the right is for the forum alone, the ad across the top (and other options) allow exposure both in the forum and on the HotBytes review site, which has more like 1 million views monthly, exxentially all eyeballs of foodies or people who come here to learn about Louisville restaurants.

I would very frankly invite restaurateurs to consider comparison shopping. If you've been paying Gannett for advertising, try HotBytes instead: No wasted money on uninterested random readers; and you keep your money local by supporting a member of Louisville Independent Business Association ... most likely like yourself..

Hey, Robin...this has nothing to do with the new look, but does have to do with those that own/manage the local restaurants and participate on the forum. Do you think they could add a line under their names saying who they are affiliated with? There's been more than once someone will post things like "We're offering this special on Mondays..." and I have NO idea who "we" are.

It is a very good suggestion, Trisha! I wouldn't want to make it a rule, but restaurateurs who make announcements here would be well advised to remember to let us know the name and location of the restaurant. :)

Don't be shy about jumping in with a reply and asking, if you're ever in doubt!

I really like the new look. It feels a lot cleaner than the previous iteration, and I like that.

Whew! I thought my computer had burped again.
I really like the new look- very clean and neat. I just have to retrain my eyes to look to the left.

For some reason, the whole page is crammed into the left side. Is this how it should be? I realize the ads are going down the right side, but I've got the posts and the ads on one half of the screen, and the entire right side blank. . .

Here's a screen shot. Everything is really crammed.

Same here. I'm not a fan.

You're still using the obsolete Internet Explorer 6, aren't you, Brad?

Mary worked and worked, but that particular browser issue was nuts. She'll keep looking at it, but honestly, you would really be doing yourself a favor if you switched over to Firefox or Google Chrome, or, if you're absolutely wedded to Explorer, at least upgraded to IE7 if not the recently released IE8. You will find the forum is still funcitonal for you, but because of browser issues, we may or may not be able to make it prettier.

Is there any chance you can upgrade or change browsers?

See what I told Brad, Justin. We really want to accommodate everyone, but I would be very surprised if you guys aren't using Internet Explorer 6, which is both outmoded and of dubious security protection. Is there a reason (company computer, etc.), that you can't upload a better browser like Firefox or Chrome, or at least update to a more current version of Explorer?

Company computer, don't tell.
