Tanker overturns, spills Canadian whiskey on Kentucky highwa

by Steve P » Thu Nov 12, 2009 11:43 am

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — It was a “bottoms up” of a different variety.

Authorities in Scott County said a tanker truck carrying Canadian Club whiskey overturned Wednesday on U.S. 460 as it was being driven to the Jim Beam distillery in Frankfort.

No other vehicles were involved and Scott County Emergency Management Agency director Jack Donovan told the Lexington Herald-Leader the truck driver wasn't hurt.

The road was closed while the flammable load was retrieved and the truck uprighted.

Donovan said the tanker was leaking in two places, but it wasn't clear how much of the 7,000-gallon cargo spilled.

(With any luck...ALL of it)

Which brings me to my all time favorite joke,
Baby seal walks into a bar.
Bartender says "what will you have?"
seal says "anything but Canadian Club"

One day an Englishman, an American, and a Canadian walked into a pub together. The proceeded to each buy a pint of Molson Canadian. Just as they were about to enjoy their beverage three flys landed in each of their pints, and were stuck in the head of the beer.

The Englishman pushed his beer away from him in disgust.

The American fished the offending fly out of his beer and continued drinking it as if nothing had happened.

The Canadian too , picked the fly out of his drink, held it out over the beer and then started yelling "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT YOU BASTARD!!!!"

My first thought when I read this story was...Well there are a few liters of Diet Coke that won't get ruined.

Makes you wonder if he was sampling a bit of his cargo.

They'll have to repave the road now.

I guess they were driving it through Kentucky to show Canadian Club how real whiskey is made.

My thoughts EXACTLY.

Canadians may know a thing or two about back bacon, ice fishing and flannel shirts and I like Neil Young just fine but IMHO they're about a hundred years behind the power curve when it comes to the art of whiskey makin'. I mean who the heck has ever seen a recipe calling for "Canadian Whiskey" ?...or heard someone go into a bar and ask "What kind of Canadian Whiskey do you have".

Actually it still is a tragic loss to mankind to spill whiskey on the road, even if it is not the best.

I assume they were taking it to Jim Beam to be bottled.

I guess they will have to drive a truckload of their "bacon" through Kentucky next.

I was wondering about that. No bottling plants in Canada?

So, at a party, if the penance for spilling your drink is to take a shot, what would the penance be for spilling a tanker full of whiskey? Chugging a fifth? Now THAT is some alcohol abuse!
