I was young, not particularly poor, and not really as stupid as I acted, but ended up deciding to take a year off college at a very bad time, and ended up avoiding Army grunt service by sneaking into the Air Force at the last possible moment, ended up working as a PR guy in Southern Idaho during the Vietnam Unpleasantness. I got a free trip to Vietnam for a monthlong project on a safe air base but never had to go into combat, and really never felt I did anything that anybody ought to thank me for.

I just wanted to pipe up to thank all of you who have served our country, and offer a moment of silence for those who are no longer with us.
