Server dress code?

Should there be one? Even for very casual restaurants? How about bars?

I'm only asking because I saw waaay too much server skin at lunch today. And no we did not eat at Hooter's.

I, as well, am pretty tired of seeing ###crack from the short untucked tops (that seem to be en vogue these days) every time some servers/hostesses move more than 2 inches
Don't get me wrong. The female form is a beautiful thing, but when I'm tring to enjoy a meal I find it tacky and offputting, if not downright sleazy.

Yes, you understood quite well. Actually it was several women wearing "camis". Spaghetti straps, knit, tight, plus the low slung shorts/pants, so the tummy is exposed.

Yaknow, I see that style all the time on the streets, at the mall, etc., etc. and I really don't consider myself a prude. And I'm not that old that I can't appreciate "young " styles. However, when the clientelle are obviously business people on their lunch break, a certain amount of decorum is appropriate I think.

Is this just a women's point of view? Do men appreciate the view/tip better? I'm not slamming men, just really curious.

I don't. I feel sorry for the women who work at Hooters. Why others would voluntarily dress like while serving food at a restaurant, I have no idea.

My favorite thing is piercings. Especially when a young man or woman is clicking it in their teeth while telling you the special. Or the slightly heavy waitress with her muffin top not being covered is another wonderful appetizing sight. We had a server show up at a shift wearing a tee shirt with a pretty graphic picture of a guy shooting a deer. She got very offended when I told her she had to go home and change. But of course we are in the country. I should be more sensitive.

I'm sorry, but when I'm being served, I don't want to see the name of someones sig. other or some other signage laid out in front of me.

this is definitly a fine line... i think servers and staff give a place character, but should always be a compliment rather than a distraction.

but i must say, i HATE when servers (male and female) have to wear those rediculous tuxedo-lookin uniforms. i pity them much more than i do Hooters girls! it makes me think that the owners must really hate their employees to make them wear something so god-awful!!!!

i just have to put this out there... there is absolutely nothing better than some hot 24 year old bending down and showing everything when I order, and then showing basically the entire backside when she turns around... but thats just me! And i dont mean hooters........
