Jack in the Box

by Bedford Crenshaw » Tue May 22, 2007 9:51 pm

I happened to see Jack in the Box advertised for the first time ever yesterday. I don't remember one anywhere near here (the closest I know of is at St. Charles, MO, and I think there might be one at East St. Louis).

Is there one around here that I'm not aware of?

None in Kentucky, Indiana or Ohio, but there are some in Tennessee and Illinois. Closest are apparently in the Nashville suburbs:

I used to eat a lot of Jack in the Box when I lived in St. Louis. Good burgers and you could get faux mexican food too. My favorite combo was a grilled sourdough burger with a side of taquitos and guacamole.

I think that e. coli outbreak they had back in the 90's really hurt the expansion of the chain.

They are adding about 40-50 restaurants a year and are planning to expand nationwide by 2011 acording to their proxy statements.

glad to hear that they are making a comeback. It was a fast food restaurant that I actually liked. Of course, it's been about 20 years since I ate at one.

I saw it too. I wouldn't mind one in Louisville. I'm definately hitting one in Nashville this weekend. I hate fast food too. I just have close feelings for Jack. It's pitiful.

I used to enjoy going there when I was younger and lived in Houston, it has been awhile and my tastes have changed quite a bit so maybe I am hoping that they will come here so I can capture a bit of my youth!

I enjoy the Grilled Sourdough Jack Burgers just as much as I enjoy the Jack In The Box commercials...

It's not everyday that you can find a burger and a commercial you can get behind Ray.

Yack in the Box...

by Chris M » Wed May 23, 2007 3:16 pm

Jack in the Box has been one of those hit or miss places for me. Some of them are great. Good fast food and a clean, friendly environment.

HOWEVER, some of them are just nasty. I've walked into a couple of Yack in the Boxes and turned and walked right back out. Dirty floors, nasty looking employees. Awful.

I think after the whole E. Coli thing some of the franchisees got into financial trouble and the restaurants into a state of disrepair. I'm not sure they did a great job of inspecting / monitoring their franchisees.

Something.

I'm glad they are making a comeback, because it really is a nice alternative to McDonald's etc. when backed by a good franchisee and done properly.

I'm all for a one stop burger and a taco joint.

During our stay in St. Louis last summer we enjoyed picking up Jack In The Box for a quick bite.
Hope we get one in Louisville soon.

You've got to love a corporation that will do something as wacky as that!

(By the way, it's worth noting that Jack in the Box also owns ... Qdoba!)

I loved the Jack in the Box – Doctor commercial on YouTube. Made me think of the the Subway radio commercial that has a man and a woman placing an order for fattening food at a burger drive-thru. He orders “blubber” and she order “thunder thighs” and “badonkadonk.” Cracks me up every time I hear it. Not that I eat at Subway or at fast food burger emporiums.

By the waynce I got to the YouTube site, while I had to check out the rest of the Jack I the Box commercials. I was also quite taken by the one labeled “crashes.”
