Canadian candy bars

by Steve R » Sun Jul 19, 2009 11:14 am

Oh Canada! The real land of the free! Even their candy bars are better than ours. I was at Al Watan grocery the other day and picked up a kit kat and an oh henry from their limited canadian candy selection. Any body know where I can find more in Louisville? I am really looking for the illusive dark chocolate kit kat.

I believe World Market in Shelbyville Road Plaza has Cannuck candies, but I'm not sure about the Kit Kat. They do have Aero bars.

English chocolates always seem to taste better, but as far as US candies, I'm a "Zero" man....

That Chevron station at the corner of Westport and Hubbard's lane (near the Target) carries Canada candy. I think the owner of the station is Canadian.

I found the station when they helped me out with a flat tire a couple of years ago.

Not the only good thing! My kid was born up here a couple years past! (even though his paw-paw has taught him to say he's no stinkin' canadian)
You're not kidding about the candy bars. The coffee krisp ones are like one big kit kat, but with coffee in the layers. Yum. I'm sure Mike will be squirreling some away in the luggage somewhere. He always does. We're up in lake country of waskesiu sask right now as a matter of fact (el mundo is closed for vacation this week). I'll let you know if we get to eat anything interesting, including candy bars!

As long as we are getting into Canadian musicians, can't overlook Sarah McLachlan or the Barenaked Ladies and, reaching back even farther, Paul Anka and Anne Murray.

I am actually in Canada (North of Toronto) on vacation as we speak...I love the Aero bars with caramel...I'll grab a few before we come back. I'm hooked on this HOT genoa salami from a grocery up here...any ideas where I can get some in the Louisville area? I live in Georgetown, IN, but am willing to drive a bit if the salami is this good!!

YIKES !!!...Can't believe I forgot Kokanee. A bunch of us usually do a fly-in fishing trip up there every year and I KNOW I've drank more than my quota of it.

...and don't forget "Bubbles" (Helluva musician).

Oh MAN! Just reading the subject line of this post made me remember the ones I loved when we spent spring break up there (yes, spring break, I was contrarian even then) - Laura Secord French Mint bars! These were the sweetest, creamiest milk chocolate you could imagine, with this clean mint flavor all the way through. They would just melt in your mouth. I've never found anything close in the US!

I remember having an Aero Bar when I went to Canada the first time.

Two of my favorite bands came from Canada, Chokehold and Propagandhi.
I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.
