Do you think you could arrange for cooler weather this year...or air conditioning? Of course, we'll be there regardless!

One bonus we have with holding this at St. Anthony's is their auxiliary gym that we can use if the weather gets bad. So if its too hot, or rainy, we will set up in the gym instead of under tents.

I received one fun tidbit of information this weekend. Upland Brewing Company will be coming down with their beer bus to pour their beers from. If you've never seen this thing, just imagine a smaller version of the Partridge Family bus, but with beer taps on the side. And no Danny Bonaduce.

I received word yesterday that another wine vendor is going to participate in the festival as well, bringing our number to 3 wine suppliers. I'll have more information on what the others are bringing in the next few days.

Here is the list of what Crossroads Vintners is bringing to the festival:
Armador Sauvignon Blanc - Pale yellow in color with green reflections and pineapple, dry grass, grapefruit and fresh green lime notes springing from the glass. The attack is fresh and mineral, filling the mouth with concentrated citrus flavors. The bright acidity continues into a long finish.
Ken Forrester Petit Chenin Blanc- 100% Chenin Blanc. Fresh, fruity, full ripe - perfect everyday drinking wine.
• Hey Mambo White- a harmonious blend of Viognier, Chenin Blanc, Muscat Canelli, and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The palate is very juicy, honeyed with gooseberries from the presence of Viognier and grassy tones from the Sauvignon Blanc. This wine’s heart and soul is captivatingly fruity, with crisp acidity driven by the Chenin Blanc. It concludes with a clean, dry finish of Pink Lady apples, orchard peach and limestone.
Charles Smith Kung Fu Girl Riesling- are harvested from a single rocky vineyard, resulting in a wine with lush aromatics and tons of flavor. On the nose, Kung Fu Girl is bursting with Asian pear, white peach and spring flowers. Apricot, pear, lime, and a pleasant minerality keep this off-dry wine at the perfect level of subtle sweetness.
Shannon Ridge Wrangler Red- A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Syrah. The grapes used to produce our 2006 Shannon Ridge Lake County Wrangler Red came from the hills and slopes of ultra-premium vineyards of Lake County, California. To give it complexity, this wine was aged with French and American oak. It is a blend of red varietals married together to create a wine that best represents its vintage.
Home Grown Red- A bright red with excellent vitality, the perky '07 Home Grown Family Harvest Red; textured on the palate with loads of ripe raspberry flavors; a tasty treat from start to finish.
Samantha Starr Pinot Noir – This delicious Pinot Noir is a deep ruby in color with very good clarity and brightness. The nose is of strawberries, raspberries, and cedar with a hint of smoke. It is fruit forward with black cherries and plums on the palate. Very well balanced, the wine shows a pleasing richness and concentration followed by a fruit driven finish with crisp acidity.
Crios Malbec - It has a lovely aromatic display of wood smoke, spice box, and black cherry. This leads to a layered, spicy wine with excellent depth and concentration, very good balance, and enough stuffing to evolve for 2-3 years although it can be enjoyed now.

Just enjoyed this the other night with home-built lengua tacos ... pretty much as described, although it does have a good level of acidity that made it an excellent food-friendly wine but maybe a little tart for anyone expecting a more off-dry Chenin Blanc. Was $9.99 at the Wine Rack on Frankfort Avenue. I'll bet you've got it for less on the other side of the Ohio, Todd.

A blistering $8.99 on the Sunny side! I recommend this wine all the time when someone is trying to venture away from the super sweet wines.

I'm happy to report that we now will have live entertainment at the festival (aside from the usual colorful characters wandering around!). The Flying Saucers, a local band that plays blues, classic rock, and a variety of other styles will be performing live at the festival. To hear what they are all about, check out their MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/theflyingsaucersband

We've also added another brewery to the mix and Brooklyn Brewing will be represented at the festival as well.

Sounds like everything is coming together nicely. I am really looking forward to checking it out this year. Any idea what Brooklyn is bringing? They brew a really nice house beer for Danny Meyer's Blue Smoke restaurant in NYC.
