Sake Blue offline Monday, June 15

by carla griffin » Tue Apr 28, 2009 11:10 am

Can we get some feedback for those of you that would like to join in for a great dinner at Sake Blue in Fern Creek? If you are any kind of sushi lover it's a fantastic restaurant with very interesting culinary offerings. They have tasty rolls not found anywhere else (as well as the more pedestrian stuff for those of you not as adventuresome with your food. And that's cool too. I have to be adventuresome with my food because my life is so dull. ) The restaurant itself is very chic with seating available for a large party. I really think a forum do is a great way to try new and exciting things. Any takers? And if so when? I guess we can poll here on line then once we settle for a date those interested can PM myself or Gayle.

Hello Carla & fellow Hotbyters. I’m one of the managers at Sake Blue, and we’re all very excited to welcome the offline event at our restaurant. After much discussion between the chefs and my family, we’d like to do a couple of special things for the forum members.

In addition to people ordering off the menu (sushi, bistro, teppanyaki), Chef Jack will make a couple of complementary signature dishes that may or may not be offered on our regular menu. These “tasting” dishes will be fun and interesting, and will definitely be unique to Sake Blue. We will also offer a tasting of our premium organic cold sake that will be a crisp & refreshing complement to the dishes.

Mondays (preferable) or Wednesdays would be the best nights of the week for us. We just need to know how many people will attend so that we can prepare on our side. Hope we can get a great turnout!

Sohee, it's so nice of you and your family to make such a generous offer.

Mondays are generally good for the forum, too, because that makes it possible for some of our folks who work at other restaurants to be here.

Once we set a date, then it's just a matter of people signing up, and at some point before the actual event we'll have a good sense of a total. In the past, offlines have varied from 10 people or less to about 50, so there is quite a range!

Assuming no date conflict, Mary and I will definitely be there. We really liked Sake Blue a lot.

I forgot to mention - the only dates that we will not be able to do is the week of May 24 (Monday, May 25th and Wednesday, May 27th) Other than that, we are free & clear.

What a generous offer, Sohee! It sounds wonderful, and I'm particularly interested in trying organic sake.
How much will you guys make fun of me if I'm not too great with my chopsticks and have to resort to a fork? Will you be ashamed to sit at the table with me?

Well, if they laugh at you, Laura, you can come sit with me. Learning to use chopsticks has been on my "roundtoit" list for years!

Good morning, everyone! Sohee and I are very excited about the response to this offline. Carla, Robin, Sohee and I have been emailing back and forth. What I would like to propose is a poll to see which of three Mondays would bring the largest crowd to the Sake Blue Offine: June 8, June 15 or June 22. To that end I have created a poll at a separte thread that will be open through May 21. Please step right up and let your choice be known!
