Jeremy, you guys do great stuff, and you have definitely become a figure on the local beer scene.

Note, though, that this event is specifically sponsored by Louisville Independent Business Association, the "Keep Louisville Weird" folks, who are feverishly committed to supporting Louisville businesses and specifically LIBA members. My guess is that they love you but felt that your Lexington address was disqualifying for this purpose. (Of course, this begs the question of how the New Albany guys got in, but that's sort of a metro-area thing ... )

I'm still going to try to get down for a beer or three tonight. Depends on where I end up watching the game. As for pouring our products, I've been told that LIBA is restricting the event to member businesses within the metro area, which is their prerogative. The rules is the rules, I guess, but maybe next year they can make a special exception? Regardless, I am a local resident and I will support LIBA and all of our great local breweries wherever I happen to be in Kentucky.

I can't speak for LIBA, and technically neither can my husband, but he will be emceeing the event tonight in between bands. Official instructions, to act crazy. He is in charge of community outreach for the group, and it sounds like your local ties, and your localish fare would fit right in. Talk to him, or other LIBA members tonight. My husband will be the fool acting crazy- with the microphone, his name is Wyatt Hamilton. He looks clean cut, but is really a punk at heart, (ie "rules are for girls") so check him out while you are there, and this being the inaugural event, who knows how it could grow...

You might be already weird enough, but being a large primate obviously doesn't hurt either.

The 800-lb gorilla sounds like an amazing name for a barley wine. You should definitely brew it sometime in recognition of your status as a great ape.

hey, if it is of any great concern, the game will be on at the event. FOL (friends of LIBA) are providing a BIG SCREEN for yor viewing enjoyment. I dont know who these friends, but I like 'em already!!! DRINK 'r DOWN!!!!

I think it's great that the metro brewers have an opportunity to "display their wares" but I really-really-really wish L'ville would hold a regional brewfest. In addition to our local offerings there are some awesome beers coming out of the surrounding states these days. To the surprise of some folks a fair number of these brews don't contain apricots, raisins, blueberry's, chocolate or coffee...and many aren't even aged in whiskey barrels.

More space and more beer.

That pretty much sums up the plan LIBA needs to work towards if they organize this again next year. (Which I hope they do.)

I got there around 645, and unfortunately NABC and Brownings had both run out of beer. (Not really surprising for NABC since Grant Line is now supplying 2 locations.) The lines up until around 9 pm were absolutely atrocious, and all 3 remaining breweries (BBC, BBC, and Cumberland) ran out of beer and had to have more brought in. They even ran out of 'commemorative cups' and had to resort to using red solo cups. When they ran out of those, they had to find blue solo cups.

By the end of it, I pretty much gave up on waiting in line for more beer and cashed in the rest of my tickets (which were the free ones I received form a couple of friends who were leaving) for sodas to take with me.

Don't get the impression that it wasn't a good time though. Overall it was fun, if slightly frustrating, and the beer was good in general. Next year though, we definitely need to work on the above-mentioned points: more space and more beer.

As an aside, I saw your husband tonight Reagan. I told him that he was supposedly very punk, but he claimed to be a nerd at heart. I'm afraid your stories don't match up!
