Al Fresco Dining

The beautiful weather we've been having lately has really put me in the mood for dining al fresco. I know that its supposed to cool off a bit in the next few days, but I was wonder what everyone's favorite outdoor dining experiences in river city are. I've always had good luck with Kashmir and Butterfly Garden Cafe on Bardstown Road. What places do you recommend?

Just had a great meal tonight on the sidewalk in front of Havana Rumba. There are four tables waiting for you.

I was actually there last night, but the size of our party dictated that we eat inside. Is this the first year that they have tables outside? I don't remember it last year.

Nothing better than weekend night on patio at Captains' Quarters, good drink, good band playing, river flowing by, decent food, just relax and take it all in.

Avalon and Carly Rae's

CQ is definitely at or near the top of that list....the Bristol Bar & Grille (downtown on Main) also offers some al fresco dining -- along with Luigi's....both are great locations for dining and people-watching....outdoor dining options in Oldham County include Arbor Ridge Vine & Grille, near Crestwood....

I agree that Captains Quarters is the best bet in Louisville. But I must say that a pleasant evening looking over the Louisville skyline from Rocky's (and Buckheads) in Jeffersonville is a safe bet with out-of-towners. The food is mediocre, but the terrace is impressive.

If you like fried fish and cheap beer, Mike Linning's is great. You'll see all kinds there!

Studio's Grille and Pub in New Albany has a large outside courtyard for dining and it is open. If there is a chill the heaters are lit per customer requests.
It is also 3/4 covered with a canopy if the weather is rainy, customers are still able to eat outside without getting wet. We would love to have you dine at our place.

Some other suggestions:
Porcini's has a small side patio with a mural. Fun for people watching too!

Artemisia- great courtyard dining area and Jazz on the weekends

Patio at Seviche- Ditto on the People watching.

Palermo Viejo - small patio right on Bardstown Road ( chairs could be more comfortable, but the foods great )

Le Relais Bistro deck watching the planes take off

Napa River Grille at Westport village ( but I'm still mourning the loss of their wonderful patio at Dupont Circle- it was one of my favorites for ambience)

I've heard Amici has a great patio, but we haven't made it there yet.

Joe's in Lyndon has a wonderful outdoor area......and FAB hamburgers (Cooked to order). Was there last evening for dinner and can attest that they are delish.

Also, homemade potato chips.......TO DIE FOR.
