Fish Frys!

by Jesse Hendrix-Inman » Fri Mar 06, 2009 10:15 pm

Has anyone enjoyed a great fish fry this season? I went to the St. Elizabeth's fish fry on Burnett Street in Schnitzelburg and really enjoyed it.

Here's a menu preview!

The fish dinner, including two sides and dessert, was $6.50. I chose mac and cheese and green beans, but the fries, onion rings, hush puppies and baked apples also looked good. The Miller High Life was extra-you know, a whole $1.50 or so. :)

I think it might be fun to choose one of the fish frys for an offline! Any takers?

I've been very under the weather. Not totally well yet. Thanks for the concern.

Let's go to Clarksville Seafood!...They keep such strange hours for a business that has been there for 35 plus years. It seems like a "Fish Fry" every time you "Catch" them when they are open. The fish will definitely not disappoint.

Hungry Pelican in Fern Creek is a winner. They also do the fish for St. Gabriel and St. Aloysius in Peewee Valley.

We will be hosting a fish fry on April 24th at Vine St Baptist in conjunction with our annual Sacred Harp singing. More details to come. No charge (but donations are accepted.) All are invited!

St. Francis of Assisi: Hands down the BEST fish sandwich you can find. seriously. And you cant beat the price, $5 for a sandwich with two pieces of fish or $7 for the dinner combo that comes with 2 sides and a sweet tea. And seriously, its the best.

Sounds interesting but what is "Sacred Harp singing"?

Wow, that's an absolutely overwhelming list of fish fries. Does anyone have any recommendations? Both St. Francis and St. Elizabeth sound good so far.

The first is a story done on our local group on Kentucky Life and the second is from NPR on a group in Alabama (it might bring tears to your eyes)
