They didn't review the coffee or the food so I'm withholding judgement until then.

Darn they beat me to it. I am starting topless service next week. My grandmother is flying in from FL. to train the staff.

Including FL was the perfect move there. I'm already thinking of Florida cities with what seem like (for I've never been in them) extra-trashy strip joints. Part of me wants to stop thinking of new cities. And part of me wants to see if I can come with with a "city" to top the last one I've thought of.

This is another relatively new concept . . . a tad more covered up, and interesting food at The Heart Attack Cafe (clip from the CBS Sunday morning show):

Roughly ten years ago there was a short-lived, similar phenomenon in Prague. It was a tavern down the street from the hotel where my group was staying. The attraction was a topless waitress, so a half-dozen of us beer enthusiasts strolled down to check it out. The waitress was atractive and cooly professional about the whole thing, but the beer was subpar at best, and in every other respect, it was just a normal neighborhood watering hole exuding palpable desperation, with the added non-attraction of quite a few local raincoaters nursing 10-degree beers and staring. No one was talking except us. Reclaim Our Culture Kentuckpragiana would not have enjoyed it one little bit.

But after ten years, what do I remember most of all? The bad beer. There's a message there, somewhere.

It does kinda make you wonder about some of the occupational hazzards. It seems like them things might get caught somewhere, lol!

Sounds like it's time for a road trip.

Actually, this isn't a first for Maine. For many years there was a topless donut place here in Portland, but they closed a few months ago. You know the economy's bad when a state can't support two of those joints at the same time. ;)

Disclaimer: Not that I would have any first-hand knowledge of any of this.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Ha... I took my shirt off last summer and it did nothing for the bizz.... Got some calls from the health department though ;)

Perhaps it should have been Sondra who did the undressing.

You can't say coffee folks are prudes, that's for sure.

People spend lots of time in social quarters trying to attain toplessness. Starting out that way just stifles creativity. I can't imagine such a lack of imagination is good for the menu.

It does provide fodder for some bottomless cup jokes, though.

Andrew, The Heart Attack Cafe seems to be a must stop for the kids I know going to FL on spring break. I wonder how many will return?

An update...

Well that didn't take long - the place was torched last night. Arson is suspected. No insurance.

And I never made it over there for a cup.
