I made the mistake of reading some of the CJ forum comments after that article. Seriously, it's the kind of thing that could get the "Most Livable City" award revoked!

In spite of some of the insipid trolls who frequent the Courier Journal forums, I love this city and I'm glad I moved back a few years ago.

My family lives is Carmel, CA. It's really beautiful. But even with an ocean it doesn't have as much to offer as Louisville and I an afford to live here!

Nice award.

Newspaper web site forum commenters are the same the world over. I wouldn't get worked up about that.

Not to judge all the folks who post on CJ's forums, but for the most part it's crap.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

As a california transplant I moved here in 98 and have no interest in moving anywhere. The people are so welcoming and if you say hi to someone on the street they generally say hi back.It is actually amazing how many people from cali live here , from the cost of living to the people it's awesome .
It's all fun and games till someone puts an eye out! Then it's just fun and games you can't see!

My mother in law ( a blessed memory) would come to visit, and she referred to Louisville as
"Little Switzerland".

I would agree, except we do not have their transportation system!

I moved here from Tucson, AZ in 2002 site unseen. I am so fortunate to have come here. I love Louisville and eventhough it's only been 5 yrs (almost 6!) it really does feel like home. I couldn't believe how friendly people were here. It's sad that Kentucky has such a bad reputation. I heard my share of redneck/marry your cousin jokes before I moved here. Maybe it's good that we're a hidden gem!

I have lived here my whole life with the exception of 2 years when we moved to Tulsa, OK for my dads work. The worst 2 years of my life. We rushed back and I can't imagine living anywhere else. Now that I have two children I realize its not only a great place to live but it is a great place to raise children.
We have friends that live out of town and they have a blast every time they come into town.

Yeah...but if our secret gets out, then all the jerks that make the rest of the country unlivable are gonna come in and mess up our ju-ju!

I'm moving to Hoboken, NJ (basically NYC) for a giant promotion. I wouldn't have agreed to leave for anything less. It's bittersweet for me to be leaving, knowing how much this city has going for it and all the development projects that are planned. I'll probably return for Derby several times, but I'll most look forward to watching the city transform yet stay the same. Outside of the derby, this city's dining scene is the star. I have developed a high standard to hold restaurants to when I'm travelling to NYC, Boston, Philly, and all areas around.

I thought about listing some of my favorite dishes around town, but the list would be too long and it would make me too hungry. I think I will skip the favorites on my way out of town to ensure I get back here faster.

Thanks for a great 3 years in Louisville.

Are you moving to Hoboken for a job in the arts field by chance?

I hear Hoboken has become a rockin' town, am I wrong?

It won't be Louisville, but you be close to the city (NYC).
