Senor Iguanas in Clarksville

by Laura B » Tue May 13, 2008 9:44 am

I'm meeting some friends here later this week for a Girls' Night Out. I had never heard of it before. Can anyone give me a heads up :?: :)

Hopefully you had a good time at Senor Iguanas last night. I've always found their food to be very good, with great service as well. If you are into large portions with your meal, they do that extremely well too.

Laura, I have not personally been there, but a good friend of mine has and she loves it! She does a lot of business lunches there in fact. I'm not sure why, we just haven't gotten there yet. Let us know how your visit goes!

I went to Iguanas for my mother's b-day the other night and it was very good. The spicy salsa was a great indicator of how the meal would unfold. Mom and I each got the vegetarian fajitas and were extremely impressed with variety of healthful vegetables. Lots of broccoli, caulliflower, tomatoes, grilled lemon, peppers and onions, traditional sides, beans were very tasty (always a bummer when you get pale and tasteless beans at a mexican restaurant).

And since it was my momma's b-day, they did the song and dance as they brought her a plate of sopapillas. Sooo... thankfully my momma has a great sense of humor, cause they brought a camera to the table to add her picture to the b-day portraits on a wall near the restroom of b-day celebrants. We didn't notice the wall beforehand, otherwise we may have expected them to smash the cream in her face! We thought it was very funny, but I wonder how many people did not think it was so funny. Really good service for our party of eight, of which there were four rowdy children well catered to. The kids really liked the live iguana in the foyer and aluminum statues outside. And it's local too!

On a side note, momma and I were talking today about the growing attributes of Indiana eateries. She is a bonafide Hoosier with an excellent pallette, and we wanna try something new and interesting for lunch or dinner soon. I have a short list of places I've not been to but would like to try, but any out of the ordinary sugggestions? I promise to report back.

I found Senor Iguana's new website:
http://iguanasmex.com/

The old site was not very up to date and the on-line menu wasn't complete. This new one seems more current.

Hope this is helpful. We really enjoy the food and service there. Try the Ribeye Steak Miramar. Excellent! For a slight upcharge, they'll top it with delicious grilled shrimp. Ribeye Steak Guadalajara, I think it's called.

The wife and I passed Senior Iguana's the other day shopping for fireworks. We both decided we had to get back there to try it based solely on the super-crazy name. Glad to hear it is a worthwhile experience; now we will go doubly fast!

I love the whole song and dance,"pie-in-the-face" gag. I had that once at another Mexican place down on Dixie for a going away party. How can you not enjoy such revelry!?

Look out, Senior Iguana's here we come!

Well we tried Senor Iguanas last night and it was great! The place was packed and full of energy! Seen two of the Birthday celebrations w/ the cream in the face and it was very cute and all in good fun! We will be making this one of our regular stops!

I've never heard of that birthday custom, and if I were the lucky recipient my reaction to that would be at the minimum embarrassed and angry. Could easily see someone come out swinging. That sort of 'tradition' needs to be fully explained beforehand to everyone at the table by the staff (I know i'm a partypooper).

i agree with you on this one.....doing something like that at home and the person not knowing isnt as bad for the recipient....but in a public place being done by servers......definitely....

No cake in the face, just some whipped cream on a paper plate. They come out, put a sombreo on your head, sing "Happy Birthday" in Spanish and then they get you with the whipped cream in the face while somebody takes your picture. If you go to the restroom, you'll see a wall of Polaroids of people in the hat with whipped cream on their faces. That would presumably be a clue as to what they are going to do to folks. But, remember, somebody in your party has to spill the beans about your speciall event in the first place. Even so, I would imagine more than one person has gone ballistic after being caught off guard with a face full of whipped cream.
