clarksville or jeffersonville restaurants

by Ellen White » Tue Apr 15, 2008 7:17 pm

Every Wednesday, I have to take my daughter to a class in Jeffersonville, past Allison Lane.
She goes from 430 to 730. I have to go from 630 to 730.
I take her to class and drop her off, then I eat dinner before going back.
I usually go over to Veterans Parkway in Clarksville, which is close enough to get there, eat, and drive back by 630.
I tried Cheddar's twice, but I usually end up at IHOP.
I don't like fast food, I'm vegetarian (but I eat fish), and I try to eat healthy (which is why I've got to get away from IHOP!!).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you like Sushi, try Kansai on Veteran's Parkway. I love it!

I guess that rules out "Famous Daves".....good BBQ, though.

You might try Mai's Thai on in the old Youngstown Shopping Center on Hwy 62 in Jeff.

I don't know my Indiana geography very well (I'm always getting lost when I leave downtown Jeffersonville or New Albany), so my recs may be way out of your way. However, I recommend Mai Thai's on East 10th Street. They are very vegetarian friendly and I've never found anything to complain about when I've eaten there.

I would also recommend Rocky's on the river, but if I recall correctly you don't eat cheese. And while Italian can be vegatarian friendly, they use a lot of cheese.

If you're going down towards Rocky's you could also eat at Adrienne & Co on Court St. It's cheaper and in my opinion much better tasting than Rocky's.

If going over to all the chains on Veterans Ruby Tuesday is alright. They have a gigantic veggie burger they make themselves.

Down by the river near the Falls (and Rocky's) is Cup Of Sunshine Tea House which has an extensive vegan menu. This is in the same building as Widow Walk.

Come Back Inn in Downtown Jeff is tasty.

The Onion Tea House in New Albany is also delicious.

New China (in front of Kmart on Tenth Street, near Allison Lane) is quite good. It's next to Thornton's. I get carry-out from there about once a week but they have a large dining room.

We've enjoyed excellent meals at The Lighthouse (Market Street at Main, across from Jeffboat). I know they have chicken strips which my friend really enjoyed and I'm sure I've seen a couple of fish/seafood dishes on the menu. They probably don't have anything specifically vegetarian.

Ann's on the River (Spring and Market) is kind of a meat-and-potato place, but they do have numerous veggie offerings.

Oh I love Perkfection. The atmosphere always makes me think Mendicino or Bodega Bay. The food is very tasty, too.

If you have the time and appetite for the hibachi side, then Kobe is fantastic. Bristol is now open above Hooters in Jeff...always a good meal to be had there as well.

I was wondering about that Skip Jack place, thanks for recommending it...I was a little wary due to the location and size.

Also Stratto's *former* main sautee' guy has been working at Perkfection forever (he worked both places) and he highly recommends it.
