Cheese selection--Belgians?

Does anyone happen to know of a place with a wide enough cheese selection to have Belgians available? Thanks.

Good point, Shawn. I was asking in regards to a store for the sake of pairing cheese with Belgian beer, but knowing a restaurant with that kind of selection would be also helpful.

Lotsa Pasta and Whole Foods, and to some extent, Liquor Barn Springhurst all have good cheese selections. I generally give Lotsa Pasta the first shot because they're locally owned and operated, but in fairness, Whole Foods has a wider selection.

Will, they definitely have manchego at Valu Market. You need to make a trip there! Then, invite me over for whatever you're making with chorizo and manchego...yum.

Manchego is excellent, and <i>fairly</i> easy to find. Depending on Will's location, he'll definitely find it at either Lotsa Pasta or Whole Foods as well.

I would recommend shopping for cheese downtown at Creation Gardens. They have a wonderful selection of fine cheeses from around the world.

Lotsa Pasta had some Epoisses out for tasting yesterday, and they and Whole Foods almost always have it. Be aware, though, that US import regs barring young un-pasteurized cheeses mean that we don't get the same Epoisses here that we do in France, and ripeness (not enough or too much) can also be an issue. But you know all this ...

I have purchased manchego at Whole Foods before and seen it there on every other visit.

What's eppoise? I've never heard of it.

the epoisse is a pretty funky raw french cheese if i remember correctly

are there any restaurants in town that offer "flights" of cheeses or specific cheese pairings

that is the one thing i miss about the whole foods, is eating great cheese everyday

Corbett's does an excellent job with a cheese flight. Everything was perfectly ripe and very interesting.

Regarding Manchego- The Springhurst Liquor Barn does have it ( I was just there). But I'd try Lotsa Pasta: we used to carry an excellent Manchego (I find they vary widely) and Lotsa gets some of there cheeses from the same distributor. Don't remember the name but it has a yellow/brown label with a picture of a shepard and sheep. It's excellent in my opinion.

L&N has a cheese plate permanently on the menu, and Jack Fry's has them on special from time to time.
