Who are the Chefs and charities?
(Unfortunately I'll likely have to live vicariously through the rest of you- Brian is in Portland then and getting a sitter is problematic....![]()

I have to be respectfull of the chefs, thier lives and what they need from me to make this thing work.
That's why I worded it that way.
The charity aspect is left to them. I want to allow them to 'consult thier kids-' as one had asked me to do. Any good is still good. I've never known a charitable organization to turn down a check, but if you put thier name on it, you kind of open a Pandora's box and shoot yourself in the foot.
The chefs will be cooking the food, but some may send an 'away team' to execute. I'm just happy they are donating thier time and resources. This will become obvious because the chefs that are at the event will actually sit down and enjoy the meal with the guests. Until it is thier turn for the kitchen.

I'd be hesitant to buy a ticket an event featuring unnamed chefs to benefit an unnamed charity. I would suggest just billing it as a BBQ cook-off without mentioning the chefs or charity angle.

HotBytes events almost always benefit a charitable or community cause, and I'm glad this one is no exception. I agree that this one should be no exception, and I would hope Stephen can find a way to reveal the beneficiaries, even if this information is separated from the individual chefs.

So the chefs are all picking their favorite charity, and the winning dish's charity gets the lions share of the proceeds, right?

As I understand it, Apron prefers to do its own fund-raisers under its control, so Stephen couldn't set up this event as a designated Apron fund-raiser. But if Anoosh wins and wants to make his donation to Apron, that would be an excellent idea, and I would encourage it.
