Four stars for East End Seviche in CJ review

by Robin Garr » Sat Nov 17, 2007 8:56 am

It's always a little frustrating when the CJ gets to a hot new spot before I do ... it's only since Marty took the helm that this embarrassment ever occurs, which is good, I guess ... it keeps me on my toes. Anyway, he takes us to the new Seviche - A Latin Bistro on Goose Creek this week while my report is still in the can; moreover, he does it well, correctly declaring both Seviches - there's not much difference between them - among the best restaurants not just in Louisville but across the nation. His 573-word ration didn't really seem enough to tell the story. I'd have liked to see a little more about the food, particularly the seviches, but it's ultimately a strong review for a strong new establishment, properly rated at four stars.

Good for Anthony and Co. I'm really happy to have another high-end, east-end offering (to go with Limestone).

Grats Anthony!

by Chris Rogers » Sat Nov 17, 2007 11:09 am

We were thinking of eating dinner at the new place this evening before the Wax Fang show....too bad with the outstanding review you'll be even more packed than usual. We'll be in soon though and we can't wait!

We've been twice since they've opened this location. Both times the food was (just like at their other location) outstanding. Our most recent trip was Monday night. And they were not packed. Chef Lamas even stopped by our table to see how our food was.

So try it on a Monday night... no wait and a chance to have a brief chat with the chef.

Hey, Amy, thank GOD for the timing of those computer issues. Can you imagine tonight with what we experienced this week? I appreciate the incredible customer service you've provided. You've been my number one this week. I appreciate you.

Thanks for the kind words Jackie. I can't imagine the nightmare it would have been if you had all those problems over the weekend. Good luck tonight. I hope you guys have fun with all the crazy busyness. It's a pleasure working with you!

That makes me glad. Seviche is one of my most favorite restaurants. My husband and I adore it.

So as it turns out we decided to drive by Seviche on a whim last night to see if we could get in and luckily we got the last table that was not reserved! All I can say is wow. We were blown away by our dinner and will certainly be back.

We started with the Chicharrones De Calamares, moved on to the Chino-Latino Tuna & shrimp ceviches, and finished up by splitting the Churrascos De Argentina. Every item far exceeded our expectations which were already pretty lofty. The calimari rings were melt-in-your-mouth tender and the ceviches were delicious and artfully presented. The steak was split for us in the kitchen, served over a mound of mashed potatoes and surrounded by the best chimichurri that I've had in Louisville.

Our server, Jeremy, was attentive and very helpful in narrowing down our selections.

We were sad to see the Cutting Board not make it at the former Hungry Pelican location. We're now officially over those feelings.

Chef Lamas - welcome to the Far East end wasteland, we're very pleased to have you in our backyard.

My girlfriend and I try to eat at Seviche about once a month. It is one of the few restaurants where our expectations are constantly exceeded. Great news on the new place, I am sure it will also become one of our favorites.
