Courier on Doll's Market Site

by Joan J » Tue Jul 24, 2012 10:54 am

...says sold to a "multi outlet national chain that people in the area will like". Quoting the realtor. Does anyone have the inside scoop on what's coming?

The article said it would be used for retail so I assume no restaurants and it also said they have 53 units in 13 states but not any in KY yet... If it's going to be a chain I hope it's a fresh market/whole foods type place. Any guesses?? :?:

I'll push back on that, Luca, by noting that every cool new food chain that comes in puts additional pressure on our indies in that niche.

I was hoping to crack the case by Googling "53 units in 13 states" or variations, but alas, the only hit that comes back is the CJ story itself.

Wow, yes.

(the internets say Wegman's has 79 stores)

Probably just a coincidence, but here's a restaurant chain with 53 units in about 15 states.

I don't think I can waste any more time on this today.

I don't get the Courier- does the article actually say it's anything restaurant/food? Couldn't it be a retail ( non-Food) store the way it's written?

" . . . Noodle is up to 53 stores in 13 states . . ."

http://libn.com/1999/10/08/toying-with-the-future/

Maybe?

Also http://finelivingreview.com/2010/11/giv ... christmas/ a jewelry store
and

Or http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1985 ... peripheral a computer store

None of these are food.

Prolly not. That story had a 1999 dateline.

Outstanding Googling, though!

http://nrn.com/article/buffalo-wings-ri ... den-appeal

David said the prototypes in Naperville and San Antonio, which also opened last month, were the first of 10 to 12 new-look restaurants Buffalo Wings & Rings hopes to open before the end of 2012.

The chain had 53 locations in 13 states at the end of 2011.

But they are already in Louisville, so it would seem it's not them.

There's Phantom Fireworks: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases ... 49065.html

Phantom Fireworks maintains an extensive portfolio of trademarked private label consumer fireworks products and has 53 permanent showrooms in 13 states

But they're already in Kentucky (Florence). Not them either.

Just got back from Wegman's. It's nice and all, but I think there's been some exaggeration of its merits on this board. I have been impressed with the fresh fish and produce.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.
