Weather Update

by Steve P » Fri Mar 02, 2012 5:46 pm

No much happening out here in Garage Logic...a bit of wind and rain, absolutely nothing of any significance.

Bill P posted a picture of the tornado on Facebook, it passed 3 to 4 miles north of him, reports all is well on his veranda.

Dan Thomas reports plenty of beer and bourbon on hand.

Prayers to all who might not have been as lucky.

:( ...I screwed up. I'm down to only a 12 pack of non-local craft beer in the fridge. What was I thinking. Hopefully they didn't lose power at my nearby purveyor of adult beverages.

Before we start making fun of the weather boys, we have a lot to be thankful for today. It didn't miss us by much. :(

Speaking of donations- being a new resident in the area... where would the best use of my money go right now? And for that matter, time? I am a massage therapist, but I am not working yet in the area- I can be of all kinds of assistance. I can't this weekend, but Monday I could.

I shall be inside The Keg on Pearl, from 2 until sold out. Which I've prepared 240ish pulled chicken sliders so we'll see how long that lasts.

And here's an update from our Friends at Develop New Albany:

"Saturday is the day we Celebrate in New Albany that the Bridge is open, but we also want to help our neighbors in Henryville that have been devasted by today's storms.

Please bring non-perishable food items, clothing, blankets, towels or checks for the Red Cross with you tomorrow to New Albany. Through our partners at Eco-Tech and the City of New Albany, we will have boxes available at our business locations for donations from Noon until 6 pm. We are coordinating with the Red Cross to get those items to our neighbors as soon as possible."

My family (wife's family) is unaccounted for this evening in West Liberty, KY. While I firmly believe they are OK the pictures and news from there are devastating. With the loss of communications in the area no news is disconcerting. We'll be inbound there in the morning. My heart goes out to Indiana & Kentucky tonight. Peace.

UPDATE: All of the family located SAFE & SOUND!!! Thanks to all for the thoughts & prayers. Hope and healing to others in this terrible time.

THANKS!

My heart goes out to you, Ed. I hope your trip tomorrow sets everyone's hearts at ease, or better yet, you get good news before then. It's all so unfathomable.

In addition to the obvious choices of supporting the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army, there's an impromptu drive on Saturday morning to collect bottled water, toiletries, etc. for tornado victims.

Eastside Christian Church in Jeffersonville will be collecting water, toiletries, etc. on Saturday morning (03/03/2012) from 8:00 a.m. until 12 noon for tornado relief. David Parkerson, the outreach minister, will be there if you can help. Eastside is located at 2319 Veterans Parkway in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

From I-65 in Jeffersonville, take Exit 5 and go EAST (away from Clarksville) about 1/2 mile. The church is on the left, across from River Valley Middle School.
