Wowzers.

Steve Coomes over at Insider Louisville is reporting that Fernando Martinez is shortly to open an upscale Mexican influenced place near Hurstborne and Dorsey Lane. How good does that sound?

I have my fingers crossed on this one! Could it be what I've been hoping for?

Certainly sounds very interesting and the location is very convenient for us :!: Hopefully the location will work out well for him, I think it's the first Applebee's I've ever seen go under and in the Shoney's only lasted a few months. I think the biggest problem with the location is its lack of visibility from the street.

Yippee! This should have been filed under the "restaurants we need in Louisville Topic"! I love the Cuban food at Havana Rumba. I should know since I was born in Cuba and left that country in 1961. My family and Fidel did not see eye to eye. Anyway, if the quality is as good as Havana Rumba and Mojitos, they will have a winner!

I thought he went to a Caribbean island to run a resort restaurant. Am I dreaming?

No, you are not dreaming.

The link indicated that his leaving was a big mystery and that he was returning from Miami. I remember a big announcement on this board about the island resort gig. Confusing. Good news for us, though.

I met with Fernando and Christina at the site of their new restaurant, Guacamole. They told me that they are remodeling the former Applebee's & Shoney's location and hope to have their new restaurant open in 4-6 weeks. Fernando told me the concept is Nuevo Mexican and will feature various moles, ceviches, empanadas and affordable prices. They will be open for lunch and dinner with lunch entrees topping out at $10 and dinner entrees at $16.

Welcome back to the 'Ville.

Hello everybody:

We are happy to be back, we missed Louisville, there is something about this city that pulls you back. Why Mexican, we have The Mayan Cafe, in my opinion the best Mexican restaurant that I have been anywhere. But that's just one option. Maybe Guacamole is another good option. I want to do simple but creative Mexican and hopefully people like. What to expect to see on the Menu.

Flautas de Pato: Duck confit flautas with cherry tomatoes and Fresno jalapeno marmalade
3 different Guacamoles
3 different Ceviches.
Tacos al Pastor: with homemade tortillas and smoke pineapple salsa.

I will keep everybody posted on opening days.

Sounds fantastic, Fernando! We live right up Hurstbourne from you and can't wait for you to open.

Congrats on the new place!
