Herr in German is roughly equal/used as Mr or Sir. Herr or Herron

Our neighbors in Canuck-a-stan have had a lock on the goofy-flavored-potato-chip market for decades (ketchup flavored chips, fries and gravy flavored chips...picture attached) but I'm thinking with "Baby Back Ribs" chips we might have closed that gap a bit.

In high school German class, I was referred to as Fräulein Yvonne. Herr Lutz was my awesome teacher who gave me A's on everything so he could continue to coach soccer. As an adult, I can say my ah beh cehs and ein through zehn :-).

On the other hand, we've probably got a long way to go before we catch the Canucks in terms of goofy potato chips...

This was actually a thing for awhile in Britain. Walkers introduced a line of new flavors and had a contest for which one would go into full-time production. Needless to say, this one did not win. The winner was Builder's Breakfast. Apparently, no squirrels were harmed during the making of these crisps.

OMG Walkers crisps are so freaking good. My all time favorite is Smoky Bacon. Have to indulge whenever I am in the UK. They have so many different flavors it quite puts the US to shame with their paltry 5 or 6. Walkers have Prawn cocktail, Roast Chicken, BBQ Rib, Pickled Onion, Steak & Onion, Turkey and Stuffing to name but a few.

Check out wiki for a complete list ( by country) of available potato chip flavors. A few of my favorites:

In Japan, flavors include nori & salt, consommé, wasabi, soy sauce & butter, garlic, ume, barbecue, pizza, mayonnaise, and black pepper. Chili, scallop with butter, teriyaki, takoyaki and yakitori flavored chips are also available.

In Russia, popular flavors are plain (salted), onion, paprika, black pepper, and sour cream, more unusual varieties are bacon, shashlik, crab, and caviar.

In Spain, the most popular flavors are plain (fried with olive oil and salted), and ham

South Africa has many potato chip flavors, including "fruit chutney", "biltong" (beef jerky), "sausage", "Worcestershire sauce", "peri peri" (Mozambican/Portuguese hot sauce flavor) and tomato sauce (ketchup flavor) among many others.

Alison, I'm totally with you (half-Brit, here) and I'm so sad that I didn't seek out the Pickled Onion crisps when I was there this past October. We gorged ourselves on Hula Hoops and Twiglets. And yes, Steve, Prawn Cocktail is delicious!

We recently had a blind taste testing of several flavors of Herr's chips in our office, just for fun. The most-hated chip (by everyone who tried it) was Kansas City Prime Steak Flavor. When pressed for a guess as to what the flavor might be, one of the guys said it tasted like chicken boullion. I agreed.
