RYE on East Market St.

I think they're going to open up pretty soon...I'm sure it will be a great addition to East Market St.

Do you have some inside information on this? We went by the building yesterday and it still looked like they had an awful lot of work to do. Last I heard they were hoping to open sometime in January.

Unfortunately not. If I recall, I believe they were set for a late December, early January opening.

My buddy Chris K. Is the sous chef and seems pretty excited about it. He posted picture of the line on his Facebook page and it looks pretty impressive. I know there will be an emphasis on house made charcuterie and small plates. Should be a nice addition to the E. Market scene.

Here's Kertis Creative's beautiful video on Rye. Stephen Kertis is doing spectacular work in town. And Rye's oysters (they were selling them this past summer at the NuLu Festival) are also spectacular.

And Decca looks like they're almost finished with the elevated patio addition.

I haven't heard much about the food plans for Decca (San Franciscoesque?), but the site should be impressive. I work with the Louisville Film Society and our Dreamland Film Center is down that alley beside Decca. We're in the old Wayside Chapel. We've had to endure their equipment and the pounding for geothermal (which is an excellent move), but when they open and we have proper signage, we should have a great symbiotic relationship. BTW We have our monthly Community Cinema screening tomorrow - free. This month's is Troop 1500, a doc about a Girl Scout troop with girls whose mothers are in prison. We'll have panelists from the Girl Scouts and the Dept. of Corrections.

Sorry about the plug, but I like to get the work out.

I had a pair of eyes at the soft opening last night and got the impression that it's good but still needs work. I guess that's why they call it a "soft" opening.

Everybody will go through "opening pains". I've personally been on the opening team of several establishments and none have EVER gone according to plan. No matter how well you you think you have trained or prepared your staff, there will always be problems with something. I think with the four days until they really open the doors, they should be able to work out several kinks. You can have the best ideas, but if they can't be executed properly then they have to be tweaked or scrapped. That's is why places have soft openings. 8)

Looks really interesting but their web site does not mention beer. Brad, are you going to reconnoiter this place and give us the scoop?
