Zeppelin Cafe going down :(

by Robin Garr » Wed Nov 30, 2011 5:47 pm

Email going the rounds ...

From: Tim Cain
Subject: Closing of the Zeppelin

Well everyone I'm throwing in the towel. Saturday will be the Last Waltz of the Zeppelin and when I close it won't reopen. I greatly appreciate my customers but lets face it I'm the wrong nationality to make it here-I'm AMERICAN. At any rate if you have a local business that you frequent support them because regardless of what is said on the news-Times are hard. Get with your polititions and support America, no one else will. Would someone please forward this to Greg Fischer, he's a good guy and don't under estimate the ability of Jim King.

Thanks, Tim

Wow, that's classy. Buy American (except for iPhones made in China, of course).

During warmer weather I ride by the Zeppelin on my way back from Cherokee/Seneca several times a week. Usually they had a good crowd there I assumed they were doing well. Is his "American" rant about immigrant-run restaurants?

I'm really not sure what his reasoning / pointy is here.

Also, not to kick a man when he's down, but I have found the overall quality at Zeppelin Cafe has slipped over my last few visits...poor quality ribye steak sandwich, no more bison burgers, soggy pretzel bread, and mediocre service and "homemade" sides / veggies.

I will miss Zeppelin though. It was a family dinner favorite near my mom and dads house.

I thought the "American" business was very, very strange, but I have no information beyond what's here. Frankly, I posted it both to pass along the news and because I was hoping someone else knew and could tell me!

Joel, seriously, what phone is made in the US anymore? Unless you use a rotary dial landline, you cant find one.
I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.

It's a odd rant from someone whose restaurant was in Germantown. I wonder what the original inhabitants would have to say about the American rant?

Can't find good made-in-the-USA sarcasm detectors anymore, either.

Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

While I also don't get the comment about being an American, the email certainly sounds like it comes from a place of pain for a person losing his business and putting people out of work.
My wife and I discovered Zeppelin Cafe late in their run, only early this year, and have had the pleasure of that establishment only a few times. We're sorry to see it go...
