Tequila Factory is gone

by Lonnie Turner » Tue Nov 08, 2011 5:28 pm

My wife and I walked down Baxter an hour ago coming back from a walk through Cave Hill and saw a very large "For Lease" sign on the property. I hadn't seen this elsewhere (in media, I mean) so not sure when the last day was.
There've been at least five businesses in that building in the last 20 years or so. Prior to Tequila Factory were Nios, BaZo's Baja Grill, Jupiter Grill & a coffee house that I can't recall the name of.

Yeh it's been closed for about a month now I think, I was suprised I hadn't seen anything talked about on this either. Can't say I'm suprised though....I didn't really get what they were going for, they were doing cheap Mexican food but charging more for it

I hate to impart unsubstantiated rumors, but I've heard word of hammerhead's possibly taking that spot.

Rumor 2:
Tequila Factory location is out. Hammer Heads is planning on opening a second location at former location of Big Blue Country on Baxter Ave.
I'm a bitter drinker....I just prefer it that way

Ya know, it's such a cool facillity- I fell in love with the place when I was visiting. I have to agree with what was said about the bill of fare, though. And a Tequilla collection is a hard sell in bourbon country. Not impossible, mind you, just challenging. You'd have to stay on top of the PR program and become a sort of ambassador for Tequilla...

Wasn't that also the location of the place that was shut down for cooking its books to try to meet the alcohol/food percentages required to be a restaurant? I obviously forget the name, but I think it came before Nios. Maybe the name was the buildings address?

It's time play the "yes, I'm a native of Louisville" game.

Big Blue Country
???? I've never heard of this place. It is where the old Brewery was (old as in late '80's).

Yeah, it's on the corner of Baxter and Lexington. The Blue Martini was there for awhile in the early 2000s.

I just realized how cute this Big Barf Country place must have thought itself, to be on a corner of LEXINGTON Road. (Card fan, here.)
