they should be out by the end of the yr.

Is that what's going on in the old Books a Million space?

Yes - and I agree with the "what's up with all the cupcake places" sentiment. Don't get me wrong, I love a good cupcake but how many cupcakes to you have to sell to afford your lease at The Summit?

I agree...a great east coast style delicatessen would so be appreciated. Every time I go back to NYC and Philly I have to load up on my favorites. Bagels, fish platters, great bakery, hot dinners, etc.

+1 This is something that's certainly a needed addition to the Louisville Food scene and something that would do very well! Just a bakery that made great bagels would do well by complete "Jewish" Deli would be fantastic.

Is it coming to the Summit or to Springhurst? Summit has Old Navy and they are moving to Springhurst. Springhurst has Books a Million which is closing. Summit has Ulta Beauty next to the closed furniture store. Will two new cupcake shops be opening with one in The Summit and one in Springhurst?

Ed, I think Old Navy is moving to Springhurst from the Summit and the new cupcake place is going in to the Summit. So, cupcakes in the Summit, Old Navy in Springhurst.

I just opened my shop in August and at the time there were only 4 shops The cupcake shoppe, Gigi's ,Carmen's and Caramanda's.....All in the East end. Compared with Ice cream, coffee and pizza shops. I don't exactly think the market is over saturated. I opened my shop in the Highlands which was months in planning and 2 weeks later Carmen's opened her 2nd location down the road which I'm sure was months in planning. I don't think either of us was planning on the other opening. I do more than just cupcakes. I do cakes(by order) and other desserts as well as serve a selection of local teas, smoothies, chai lattes and coffee (Heine bros). We also have a local pantry full of locally produced goods, Bruces beer cheese and spices, rattlesnake farms garlic products, kilamanjaro sauces etc.
We have future plans that are in the works ( within the next year or so) to evolve our business and take it into a new direction as well. We sell our cupcakes in Heine bros and Burger's Market. If people keep buying cupcakes I'm sure people will keep opening shops. I feel (some) people do not give cupcake shops the respect they deserve. My pastry chefs have worked at The Brown Hotel, Majids, Mozz as well as other places. They are very talented. I do agree that you need to offer more than just cupcakes for a real shot at longevity. Which is what I plan on.

Whoa! I ran into those guys at the Bourbon Festival in Bardstown last month (I was down there for a different reason, no, really  ) and bought a bag of locavore garlic. It is (or was) awesome! Very fresh, and very good, strong but clean garlic flavor. I got the real stuff, not the mild elephant garlic. Do you carry their garlic cloves in bags, Jamie? I will definitely be by for some if you do.

No,sorry Robin  . We carry their products that are in jars. We can't have the smell of garlic outweighing the smell of our baked goods lol. We carry Elisabeth's Sweet Garlic mustard, Bourbon Garlic sauce and their Chipolte Garlic Jelly.

Yeah, we're saturated with coffee and pizza joints, but I'd rather have too many coffee and pizza joints than too many cupcake shops. Hopefully, cupcake focused shops are just a passing fad.

What Louisville needs is another Parisienne Pantry! :D
