Before they opened another restaurant I hope they improve the quality of the original so that it returns to what it was when it first opened. It's certainly gone downhill in recent years. It also better be significantly better than the one they opened on Westport, we visited once and it's no wonder it closed! Actually whenever we've gone by we haven't seen a whole lot of business in the Buckheads that replaced it either.

So is Rocky's a local with food that tastes like a chain? Yeah I guess so.

I think more to the point is that it was a respected Southern Indiana local that has shifted over to an expansionist mode that has evolution into a chain as part of its business plan.

I never thought I would defend them, as their food in the past was not good at all, but they seemed to have turned a corner lately in their food quality. Their pizza has really improved, and it seems like they are doing better with their regular dishes as well. I actually think the same thing has happened at Buckheads as well. In the past I would never refer anyone to either of their restaurants, but I would not hesitate to do so now. I'm not sure if there is a difference between them on either side of the river, but all of my experiences have been with the units on the river in Jeffersonville. Maybe their management heard the complaints and decided to do something about it.

It sure isn't a chain-type beer list, thankfully.

If it's the vacant National City location in the Gardiner Lane Shopping Center, it would be cool to see them use the old drive thru building in the parking lot, too. Someone would just have to figure out a container design to fit in those tubes.

Arancini would work great! And meatballs, and maybe mini-calzones!

We live right around the corner from the old Rocky's. (now Buckheads) I reallllly miss them. I wish they'd get rid of Buckheads and put Rocky's back. But opening one up closer than the Indiana one is the second best thing I guess.

I've been in the last six months and the food was even worse than my previous visits. Plus they apparently make very little on site as I inquired about something in a calzone and was informed they are trucked in daily. That has to be one of the simplest things to make and they dont do it on site? Especially when there is currently only ONE location. Wow.

Didn't something called The Lighthouse go in where the old Rocky's was? And I'm not talking about the name of one of the ill-fated restaurants at the corner of Frankfort and Pope. ~Speaking of which, how many different places has that been in the last 20 years? :o

I believe a place called the Cast Iron Grill went into the old Rocky's location.... if I remember correctly, its an extension of Buck's in Louisville.

I did a Google Street View for the Cast Iron address, and I don't think that was the old Rocky's. Then again, Street View addresses don't always match up properly.

I'll just have to drive over and check things out. I haven't been down that road in many moons. Maybe I'll wait 'til the Big Four opens, and take a walk. :)

They've started work on converting the bank building for Rocky's. When I walked by last week, it looked like they were tearing out the old bank vault. The old drive-through in the parking lot is gone, and a new building is under construction there. There was no indication what it will be used for.
