Really awesome cookies

by BrianW » Tue Sep 18, 2007 3:11 pm

Can I get a few recommendations for cookies, but not like the places in the mall like Supercookie. I suppose what I'm looking for are the ones that make you say Ohh! and Ahh!, unique i guess. Wanting to get a Bday gift for my wife, cookies are her thing.

I will always toss it to Elizabeth Kizito, but if you are looking for something different.....Najla's http://www.najlas.com I think they come frozen, and sometimes she has some already made at Paul's. They are a little pricey though. The website says "Binghamton, NY, but she and the operation are in Louisville!

Elizabeth's biscotti are pretty good, she told me that her hubby had to take over the physical part of making them for awhile, she ended up with Carpal tunnel syndrome from mixing and molding, and cutting!!!!

Hope you get something good!

I have purchased the frozen Najla's cookies at Whole Foods. They are fantastic.

Najla's Cookies

by Deb Hall » Wed Sep 19, 2007 1:11 pm

I know the decision is already made, but for all the cookie lovers out there, you really get a special treat if you get Najla's cookies as previously mentioned. We had them at the store and everyone raved!!!!! I'm a fairly accomplished baker, but I can't make cookies this good from scratch.

Heather is right, they do sell them several ways. Najla has a storefront in Lyndon, where you can buy them pre-baked. They are also sold pre-baked at Lotsa Pasta and several other retailers in town. But my all-time favorite is to buy the frozen dough (sold at Doll's, Pauls and I assume Lotsa Pasta). It comes in a box and each cookie bakes in it's own paper cup so there in no clean-up. All you have to do is bake on a baking sheet for about 15 minutes, and you've got the best hot, gooey chocolate chunk cookies you've ever tasted. (they do come in multiple flavors but this is my personal fav).

Okay, I'm done raving, but I REALLY love these cookies and so did our customers. Shoot, just talking about them has me craving one, and there are none left in my freezer....
