The threat of isolated showers put plans for spending a fun day in the hot sun sealing the driveway in "hold" mode, so on an errand run to Lowes I made the decision to give A.P. Crafters a try. Given Tony's generous offer I was surprised not to see more Hotbyters in attendance. Mark R. and the lovely Laura came in while I was enjoying my lunch in the bar and I
think (maybe) I ran into another Hotbytes couple...although they were either feeling unsociable or were in stealth mode, not sure which (perhaps it was my cologne "Ode De Yardwork" that put them off)...
I decided to take Mr. Vermillion's suggestion and forgo the "free" lunch opting instead for full price and a 50% tip. As this was my first visit I wanted to try a number of items and thus ordered WAY too much food. The (grilled) wings were spot on perfect...I don't know that anything can ever take the place of my beloved Rooties in this department but these were some damn fine wings none the less. The A.P. Burger was a quiet serviceable hunk of ground beef. Again, I don't know that it can supplant one or two of my other favorites in town but it IS a darn good burger...and in my case cooked to perfection (nice job in the kitchen). The fries were really good as well...crispy on the outside, very moist and soft on the inside...I'm not totally down with the seasoning but I have little doubt most people probably are.
The service....Vikki....was outstanding. Let me say this again, it was outstanding. Nice job Vikki if you're listening. Oh and the offer to provide me a refill of iced tea and a "to go" cup on my way out into 92 degrees was a VERY nice touch. The managers (two of them) each stopped by my table to make sure everything was fine. They were both unobtrusive and seemed to really care that the dining experience was pleasant.
All in all a very nice lunch experience, I'll be back for sure.
