Nasty weather possible tonight ...

by Robin Garr » Wed May 25, 2011 1:12 pm

Just in case anybody wants to obsess, er, I mean, keep track of weather developments with possible severe storms headed our way tonight, I've found WAVE3's weather blogs, if a bit hyper, to be thorough and detailed, with lots of weather geek stuff.

WAVE-3 Weather Blog (Brian Goode and others)
http://blogs.wave3.com/weather_blog/

John Belski's WAVE-3 Weather
http://blogs.wave3.com/johnbelski_weatherblog/

Enjoy! And have your emergency plan in mind ...

I certainly agree that they are hyper at times! This is especially true when they start chasing possible tornadoes all the way to Cincinnati! I also wish they would not preempt all the programs for weather coverage. Just use the bottom of the screen scrolls and then use one of their other digital channels for fulltime weather coverage.

Dumb question: Where does one buy a weather radio? Can you get one at Target or is it a specialty item that has to be ordered online?

Being somewhat of a meteorologic geek ( and storms really mess with my greenhouses) I follow weather pretty close. This system thats coming in tonight looks like it might get pretty ugly. Ill offer another link that leaves the drama part of the forecast out. Just the facts.

they update this report every couple of hours or more as needed.

The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Jen, Target should have them. Also Radio Shack, and the foo-foo mall stores like Brookstone.

I would guess Target would have them. Walgreen's (Lyndon) always has a small display of them near the checkout.

Okay, my Target applet says their weather radios are online only.

But Walgreen's stores apparently have a bunch of them. You might call your local Walgreen's to be sure, but if you Google Walgreen's weather radios you'll come up with a lot of info.

Most Kroger stores carry them. I bought mine recently at the Westport Road / Hurstbourne store.

Belski is blogging the NWS call right now. Sounds ugly. Batten down the hatches!

They can be down right comical can't they ? I especially like to see the ones who you just know grew up in California or Arizona or some such "non-weather" state and they start freaking out about 2 inches of snow, or a little line of T-storms. What ? Oh yeah, I guess they DO do that here.

If you buy a weather radio be sure to buy one with the SAME feature. That allows you to only program certain areas for the alert to work and what alerts you want to hear. Without this feature you could get woken up for something that was of no interest to you in a county quite far away!

Radio Shack and Best Buy probably have the biggest assortment but as mentioned by others I've seen them in Walgreens, Kroger, Wal-Mart, etc.
