Your favorite Beer Cheese (Store/Restaurant)??

by Brian Taylor Clark » Thu Apr 07, 2011 10:07 pm

I love a good beer cheese, but my tastings have been somewhat limited thus far. I really enjoy Kentucky Beer Cheese (Hot) that they sell at Kroger's, and also BBC's served with the pretzel. Although the last few times I've had it at BBC across from YUM, it has been near frozen, served in a tiny ramikin.

So my question is, 1.your favorite store bought, and 2. favorite served at a restaurant...

I'm gonna be a little biased here but here it goes!

1. The NA Exchange..Bourbon Beer Cheese with Fresh Baked Pretzel Bread.
2. NABC

Have gotten it before and enjoyed it, and coincidentally bought some more this afternoon - homemade beer cheese from Burger's. Give it a whirl. Delicious on a hard pretzel or a cracker.

For a spicy version, I love the beer cheese at NABC. They do an excellent version of this at Charlestown Pizza Company as well.

The spreadable version at New Albany Exchange is my choice when I'm not looking for spicy. Its spreadable, instead of the dipping versions at the other two spots, but paired with that pretzel bread, its a lethal combination!

Todd beat me to it....the beer cheese at CPC rocks.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

NABC for restaurant.

Morris Deli for store.

The Zeppelin Cafe in Schnitzelburg has delicious beer cheese that is enhanced by their excellent soft pretzels.

I wish I could find really good pimento cheese!

Have you tried Paul's Market, White Pimento cheese? It's one of my favorites.

That stuff is great. Also, I adore the pimento cheese at The Cafe on Brent St. It's on a sandwich called "The Victorian." I wonder if you can buy it in a larger quantity.

I'll have to try that. We usually make it at home, but I would really like to have an alternative for when we are too busy.
