Some of us have been fooling around on Facebook with this great quiz from Mental_Floss ... how many of these knives can you name?

Would that be considered a style of mezzaluna? Even with one handle?

Looks like an Ulu knife.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Ulu has a different shaped blade, but the same handle style.

Funny thing I found over the years. Staff members from seperate domestic culinary educations all seem to have different names for just about every item in the kitchen. for instance: Spatula/CBlue - Spat/J&W - Offset/CIA - Bowl Knife/PICA. and the list can go on....I should sit down and think of some more sometime.

And then there's "trade" names like monkey dish, grapefruit bowl, ramekin, and that one I can't mention for metal scrubbies....indeed, the list goes on and on.....I just found out recently that double wrapping is a "New York" wrap. Learn something new everyday!

I always called that a "hotel" wrap or "wrap it like it's going to the Moon!"

Did anyone take the obscure spice test at Mental Floss? That one was HARD!
