best date night under $50

by Megan Watts » Tue Feb 08, 2011 2:28 pm

Looking for someplace new for my Hubby and I to go out to for a belated V-day dinner. The budget is tight right now. What's your opinion for the best place for 2 under $50?? (Just for food..no alcohol).

Mojitos or Havana Rumba would make my list.

Varanese is always on the top of my list when I think of inexpensive "fine dining", nothing over $22.

Mojito
Jack's/Equus if you are careful
Majids if you do the bar menu

Depending on what you got I think you could do L& N for $50 and it's a great date spot. Mojitos is fun and you share everything but it can be loud. Seviche would be possible if you got a couple of apps a nd shared an entree but again you would have to order on the less expensive end of things. E like Cafe Lou Lou but again it can get a little loud. Just some thoughts bhave fun

I would suggest Amici's in Old Louisville. It's romantic and quaint. Also, you can each order a couple of courses under $50. http://www.amicicafelouisville.com/dessert_2007.html

One of the things we like to do sometimes is to order 3 starters and split a dessert instead of each of us ordering a salad and entree. 8)
Usually the appetizer menu at most places is a little more inspired. You could do that at any of these fine places and have a nice time for $50 or so, exclusive of booze and tip. :D

Le Relais
The Blind Pig

Corbett's
Mojitos
Majid's
Jack Fry's
or Lilly's

A couple of often overlooked places that you could easily get out for under 50 bucks for dinner if you split a salad and have entrees only are:
August Moon
Uptown Cafe
Ditto's
or the Bristol.

Edesia Gardens is running a special with LouisvillesBestDeals.com right now for Day, but it's pre-V. Saturday 2.12.11, 2 multicourse dinners for $49 before the $14 coupon (so $35 pre tax and tip) with LouBestDeals. I'll forward you the coupon in case you can't find it on your own. I forwarded my email to DH as a big ol hint.

In addition to many already mentioned, Equus/Jack's has lots of affordable dishes since the merger.

And Majid's is easy as pie, especially if you eat small plates on the bar side.

$50? Hands down...Volare. The have an amazing small plates menu and half price wine every night at the bar. IMO, the best bang for the buck in the Louisville dining scene when you take cost, atmosphere, service, food quality, and live music into consideration.

We eat there about once a week and love it...You're free to take your time...order a small plate or two, see how you feel and then maybe order another small plate or split an entree...or just sit there and enjoy your wine and live music. You can easily get out of there for under $50, especially if you don't drink, but even if you do, $50 is doable with some planning ($20 for a bottle of wine leaves plenty of room for some small plates/salads and a light entree).

Volare is one of the few places in town that has truly exceptional service. So it will be a memorable night with some good people watching to boot.

Enjoy!

Another option would be just to go out for dessert!

Sweet Surrender will be open on Valentine's Day from 4:30pm to 10pm, and the two of you can easily get out of here spending less than half of that.

You could certainly have a nice meal for that price at North End Cafe, Cafe Lou Lou, Selena's, Winston's or the Village Anchor (if you selected carefully). You said you were looking for someplace different song not quite sure what is different for you.

You could come to zanzabar get a few apps, some entrees, and dessert and have money left over for video games! :D Nothing says I love you like a friendly game of Joust!

Palermo Viejo, excluding alcohol, should be on the list of possibilities.

You probably could do 1 app and 2 entrees at Mayan Cafe.

Both will be close to 50 dollars, but well worth it. Those two would start my list.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

Ramsis is a good choice. He has a lot of variety and you could split an entree with food left over.
