Firefighters respond to the Dejlah Bistro, intentionally set

by Steve P » Fri Nov 26, 2010 1:54 pm

"Investigators say a fire that damaged a St. Matthews restaurant early Wednesday was intentionally set.

Firefighters responded to the Dejlah Bistro, located in the 4100 block of Oechsli Avenue, about 3 a.m. Wednesday..."

Obviously because Tea Partiers are bigoted, sexually deviant arsonists.

Got it.

I wonder how that got past the I-264 border guards?

Those guards have been slackin' for months now. And in all fairness, I'm not positive about that arsonist crack. Bigoted and sexually deviant, sure, but not arsonists.

Interesting.
This must be a couple more examples of how we'd like this place to be like a nice neighborhood bar, full of mutual respect, and friendly discussions and such.

It must be true then...

I'm not sure who are more bigoted people. Ones that set fires or those that use supposition to try and explain cause then fan the flames. They say action speak louder than words. But I would not be so sure in some cases. :?

Back to the fire in question. Who ever set the fire might have done them a big favor and sad ( or blunt) as that may seem, I think it was a blessing in disguise and I pray they had good insurance. We had been 5 or 6 times and it was going down hill quickly. With a few good items, but mostly mediocre food and iffy service issues, along with no alcohol or interesting alternatives.. what with Havana Rumba next door and hardly any customers, they were just treading water. With my twenty years or so of experience in this business I kind of have a six sense when a place is done. They were done. No bad feeling towards them... I even had one waitress ask me several times how they should prepare certain entree items. I just think they were in the wrong business at definitely the wrong time. This business kills its young fairly quickly at the first sign of any weakness. Cruel but true. I hope no one was hurt and wish them well in the future. They seemed to be truly nice people. Havana Rumba should just take over the whole strip (with the exclusion of Del Frisco's) and solve all issues!! But they have neighbors that can't be bought.
