Lynn's Paradise Cafe

Is this a good restaurant to take out of town guests for dinner? I have heard it is famous for breakfast just not sure if anyone goes for dinner. We will have two sixteen year old boys with us on Friday night so I thought it might be fun for them or will they roll their eyes?

They will roll their eyes. At least , that's what I'd do at that age going to a place like Lynn's. I'd suggest going somewhere a little more hip for the boys and avoid a place that's an over-priced Cracker Barrel.

Some places in the Highlands ( and other areas ) may be a good option. But, I'm not sure what the good tastes of everyone involved is at this point.

Maddy, I've never had a bad meal there, not matter what time....the portions are always plentiful, and the service is always fun. As is the place! I wouldn't hesisitate. Plus, they serve breakfast all the time as well.

Cheers!

Interesting question. It depends a lot on the boys. The food is OK for dinner, breakfast is certainly the best meal there. The atmosphere is certainly little hokey or tacky depending on how you look at it. Some people think that's kind of fun because it is so different others don't. If that's the only place you're going to take them there are probably better places they would enjoy more. Again as I said initially it depends on the boys we quite often take out of town visitors there and they enjoy it but they're not 16 year old boys.

We only have one night. Where do you think I should take them? The Mother and I are foodies the boys are probably more interested in "the scene".

Take them to Chuy's. The kids will love the place and you'll love the food. Everyone loves Tex-Mex and it's something you can't get most places, at least real Tex-Mex which Chuy's is. The decor is cool too - almost a hip younger version of Lynn's. Fun place. Good food.

Of course, if it's all about the boys, just drop them off at the Tilted Kilt while the adults try something a little more refined. They will love you forever.

Or they could try the Brick House! Haven't heard much about it but it has the same atmosphere.

If you are looking for dinner, I'd also second Papalino's...think they'll really like the atmosphere of the Highlands on a Friday night and their pizza is crazy good! Actually most of those restaurants right in that area would probably be very entertaining for them!

Though there is always downtown...the new Impellizzeri's on Main St or the BBC would be fun and there's almost always something going on at the waterfront which is a few blocks down from there.

We went Sat. and were far from impressed. The building looks great, the service was fine, and the food was mediocre at best. My overall impression could be summed up as white-trashish.

My son and stepsons have always loved Ramsi's. They're in the upper teens.

They've never turned down a trip to Lynn's, but they've also been going since they were little so that may make a difference.

I'd like a little more explanation on this one.

Out of shape, tattooed servers wearing belly shirts and cut-off blue jean shorts. Our server (Amy Winehouse after a bender) told us she was moving really slow from doing Montezuma shots all night.

I wonder how this post would go over if we were talking about an African-American establishment and called it "ghetto."

White Trash is so commonly accepted, but pejorative nonetheless.

Ghetto, by definition, has nothing to do with African-Americans. It simply means a negelected or impoversihed neighborhood. If you associated the two that is your deal.
