Katie's Day at O'Shea's - Monday August 6th

by John M » Tue Jul 31, 2007 11:27 pm

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Recently Katie Lasitter suffered severe injuries to her legs while on an amusement park ride. Her mother, Monique, worked with us at O'Shea's Irish Pub for years.

Please join us at O'shea's Irish Pub at 956 Baxter Avenue in the Highlands on Monday, August 6, 2007 when 100% of the proceeds from all sales that day will be donated directly to Katie's family. Our doors open at 11:00am.

For information about making a direct donation, please go to http://www.classact.org and click on the Katie Lasitter Fund.

Sincerely,

Tom O'Shea and the staff of the O'Shea's Family of Pubs

John,

What a wonderful thing for you to do! My daughter and Katie are close friends, and anything we can do to help the whole Lassiter family thru this incredibly awful experience is really important. This town (and the nation) are doing an incredible job of supporting them so far, but they have a really long road ahead of them, and this effort has to not only be a monetary help, but a emotional boost too.

Thanks for doing this!

Deb,
Because the Forum puts the threads with the most recent responses on top of the list, a "bump" just brings that thread back to the top so that everyone will see it.

I don't have a rule against this practice, but I'm not particularly fond of it. We're promoting Katie's Day by linking this thread from the front page of LouisvilleHotBytes, so lots of people are seeing it. Rather than just going "bump" to beat the system, I'd rather see threads grow with actual content.

Anybody else going to the Katie's Day event tommorrow? I'm going with several of Katie's friends and their parents for an early dinner.

She really is an amazing kid: really trying to be up-beat about the terrible thing that happened to her.

Folks,

If you can, please stop by O'Sheas tonight for this worthwhile event. Not only will this help the Lassiter's financially, but I know Katie has been getting a great deal of strength from the huge outpouring of support she has been getting. Let's show them once again what a great, caring town this is!

I'd love to hear we break some record tonight!
:D

Over $30,000 raised so far

by John M » Tue Aug 07, 2007 2:57 am

WOW! What an incredible day today has been! The combined staffs of O'Shea's, Flanagans, and Brendan's have all pitched in under the hot sun and done an incredible job. Louisville has come out in droves to support this worthy cause and as of 2:00am we have raised approximately $32,000!!!

Thanks to everyone who has taken part in this worthwhile effort. We'll have the final totals posted on http://www.osheaslouisville.com tuesday morning!!!

Thank You Louisville!!!

I'm somewhat curious. It sounds like O'sheas donated all revenue, not all profit which is two different things.

If they donated all revenue then that means that not only donated all profit but also the cost of all the food. With the total being $35,000 it sure sounds like the total of their sales.

If their food costs are 25% this means they bought $8750 worth of food to generate the $35k in sales and donated the total. So in effect they made an almost $9k donation plus all of their profits. That is ver commendable.

I see the original post now, it says 100% of sales. Just to let everyone know, that means they bought a lot of food to generate those sales.

And beer, liquor, etc. A very noble cause.
