Does anybody else like Aldi's?

by Brian Curl » Thu Oct 14, 2010 3:21 pm

The main reason I like going there is because I don't have to get out and walk a mile from the parking lot and then walk 3 miles in the store. It's much more efficient to get in and get out.

And their food quality is fine compared to other stores as far as staples. Heck, they even have some pretty good gelato in their frozen food section. They have some frozen, bbq, baby back ribs that were very good.

Sure, they don't have free range, organic, daily hand massaged, pampered chickens or anything of that nature but for the price and convenience I like Aldi's.

i have been there a couple of times, but i just cant seem to get the feel for it. I am a coupon and sales shopper and do pretty well like that. Maybe i should just make it a point to go in there at least once a week.

We LOVE Aldi! Their produce literally lasts twice as long as Kroger's produce. When we first starting shopping there, for three months we made a real effort to purchase the same foods (not brands but types) that we'd purchased at Kroger and compared receipts. We consistently saved at least 30% and some weeks approached 40% by shopping at Aldi.

We do 75% of our grocery shopping at Aldi, 15% at Dollar General, and we get our meat and veggies from various local sources.

We LOVE Aldi. The basics are of equal or better quality than name or other store brands. Their breakfast cereals are nearly identical to their thrice priced name brand counterparts. We can buy two weeks worth of basics from Aldi for 1/3 of what we would pay at other grocers.

We made the move to Aldi about 8 months ago and have never looked back.

i will admit that i am loyal to some name brands. I like Kraft Miracle Whip and hellmans Mayo, and am very picky about pickles and relish. we all like a strong dill taste, vlasic.

sigh..........i am all about being a good steward of our money. I live about three blocks from the Aldi here in Jeffersonville. When i need something, i am going to make it a point to head there.

one of the reasons i dont go there is because i dont carry grocery bags in the car with me and if i am out on the road and need something, i have nothing to carry my stuff in.

I buy a ton of stuff from them. Milk is usually cheaper there, bread definitely is. They have different "special" sells like Italian, Mexican, German, etc going on often with featured products. I love their chocolates....chili with dark cocoa....orange with dark chocolate.

I am also a big coupon shopper, however I do like Aldi. I don't get there as much as other stores primarily because of the location. I love their products, especially pickles, cereal, and crackers to name a few. I haven't tried much of the refrigerated or frozen goods in a long time, I may have to try the produce again, next time I get close.

They do sell very large heavy duty reusable plastic bags at the checkout for like six cents or so. I only have 3 of them and that holds a lot of groceries.

When I finish putting them up at home, I just put them back in my car's trunk. And I can feel a little green by doing this.

We're big fans of Aldi's. Generally stop in at least once a week. It's great for us because the store is smaller and my husband can't walk long distances. He's had 8 back surgeries so far.

I strongly recommend signing up for their newsletter so you'll get weekly updates on the Special Buys, such as:

I go all the time. I can't tell you how long my family has been going there. Since it opened in Louisville, maybe.

In my last two trips (to the store on Preston) I've spent considerable amount of time pondering why they have so many grocery carts. I think they have more carts than there is room for in the store.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

I'll show my ignorance: I'm aware of Aldi's, but I don't know what makes it different from other grocery stores. Kroger, for example. Is everything Aldi Brand or something?

They only carry "off" brands. It is not Aldi brand, but some brand you have probably never heard of. I used to shop there when I was in college, but haven't since moving to Louisville. If they had a location closer to Lyndon, I'd probably go there.
